1985 Kawasaki ZX-12R Ninja I just kinda wondered what the 12 would have looked like, had Kawi brought it out back in 1985. Not that I could have riden it in those days, but the thought still ponders my mind's mind within. Imagine what it would have looked like back then.....

Sorry.. the technology was barely available for an engine that size to be roadworthly. Look at all the old KZs and GPzs... big heavy suckers.
The GSXR 1100 was the "king" back then. Tach started at 3000rpm. Suzuki didnt care how it idled or rode around town...lol.
Great bike! The 86 1000 Ninja was a turd by comparison. Too heavy.

Beg to differ! The :Original ZX10 was an aluminum Perimiter frame with 1000 cc water cooled and this was 1987. The 1984 900 Ninja (Which I still have was an extremely neat bike. Even today, the ZX12 engine overall is made and looks like that engine! Wierd is, it is also fairly tall and narrow

I would like to add that the dry weight of the ZX10(88-90) was lighter and narrower than the 900 Ninja, ZX1000R and ZX11. With a little work, some extra cc's (1040) and carberation to let it breath....150 h.p. could be had!
When I was done w/ my ZX10, she was 525 lbs. wet w/ stock wheels. Made 147 h.p. and went 176 m.p.h. (radar verified).
We choose 39mm Flat Slides to help achive these #'s. We also had a custom Works Performance Suspention to help with the handling which in turn made my old ZX10 a very formidable and fun bike to ride.

Are you sure on the dry weight?? Wasn't the 900 Ninja around 503 and the ZX10 around 511? The 1000R was pig for sure around 525 or so. I had a 900 Ninja and a ZX10 both. ZX10 was one heck of a highway machine. I wouldn't mind having one again...
Needs a life
Full throttle!

I never rode a 1000, but had a 900 for three years before selling it. For it's time, awesome bike.
