C5 model 2001 and up Z06 only comes with a manual. Don't know bout earlier FRCs than that.

C6 FRC won't be out till '05 and will be a Z06, prolly manual only.

FRC cars since 01 have been exclusively 6 speed Z06 cars.

I don't think all FRC's are Z06's. I think you can get a FRC with the base engine too.

I believe 99-00 FRCs were all 6 speeds. The only two years the FRC wasn't a Z06. Same engine as the normal Vette, just an FRC.

*nods* I think the auto was avail in earlier models. If ZX11_12 would have read my first post, he would have seen that I specifically talked about 01 and upwards FRCs. You can not get a current FRC as anything other than a Z06, with the manual transmission. You can not get MSRC with the FRC. That should be clear in my earlier post.

I took a spin in an 04 C5 and thought i was pretty nice. A friend wants to sell me his C5 but its a 6 spd and I like the FRC look.

How is the manual to drive?

It's great, but you have to decide if you like the length of the throw on the shifter. If it's too long, there are several aftermarket shifters avail that are a pretty quick bolt in. A Z06 is gonna be firm riding. If your friend's car is a coupe, and has the MSRC, set it to firm, and imagine 'more firm' than that.

swft,
no need to get pissy dude. Your first post did not specify that 01 and up FRC's only came as Z06's. I wasn't aware that you couldn't get a base engine in an FRC anymore as the original reasoning in building it was that it was a bit cheaper than the Targa and convertible models.

I just bought a '02 convertible 6-speed with 4,800 miles and the stock shifter is pretty sloppy although the rest of the car seems pretty decent.

Hey GG, I considered it. But heck, I've only put 7000 miles on the car in a year. It's barely broken in those kind of parts. If it was a daily driver for me, I'm prolly consider one, yep. As it is, I live with it.
