I found that even though the 12R is "fun" on a track, IMHO, it's hardly the best track weapon out there. Attaining speed is never a problem, it's slowing down the extra weight that a 12R carrys is my problem.
Still, it's ALWAYS GOOD to get out on a track with your 12R on the occasional "open track" days. It's one of the best ways short of going to a racing shcool (i.e. STARS, etc.) to improve your riding skills and just getting familiar with your and the bikes limits.

I have done several track days on my 12 and dragraced it at the drag strip.I will never stop riding on the street. I have too much fun.
