Mr. Hoover can you tell us now?
After four years of secrecy, and double talk from kawi,i think that all of us who waited and bought our y2k 12s deserves the real answers to,what did kawi do to slow it down and the real top speed it was and did in testing in japan?

The answer is nothing.
They didnt "slow it down".
Its all rumors with no source. And mechanically looking at the bike, there isnt any proof there either.
It want untill 2001 that they added a top speed limiter.

I've talked w/ John many times over the past few years.
KHI put on a more restrictive exhaust can to have the power drop off after 10,200.
A little extra oil in the sump upon delivery of test bikes made sure power was "Tamed".
KHI also originaly intended to run a 45 tooth rear sprocket.

Jesus.... 2 generations later, there are still folks asking if the ZX12 was "restricted"... .
Just buy a 2002 or newer.... they are the fastest ZX12s made...lol
