There should be a minimum of 5, or 10, or 20 years if someone dies of manslaughter IMO.

on the plus side, looks like the guy did nothing to brush off responsibility and resigned, which seems to be rare these days. and tho they pay so much attention to how much he was speeding, it was only 16 over and i think plenty of us speed that much anyway. but running a stopsign and not lookin for another vehicle is definitely inexcusable. i'll agree he got off easy. 1 to 5 years min is what i'd want to see.

Actually he will be out on 30 days. As bad as this is, this is about the first time anyone has gone to jail of any kind. Did you know that in DC while COngress is in session, that they all have Diplomatic Immunity? I was hit by a drunk congressman near Capitol Hill back in the late 60 (I was in a car) and they did nothing at all, but sent the congresman on home. Of course Drunk Driving in the late 60's was not the same as it is now.

The more I read about this the more aggrevated I get. (I need somewhere to send my recent frustrations)
To put in perspective:
Tommy Chong gets 9 months - a $20,000 fine and forfeited $103,514 cash/inventory/business in total, for selling "bongs".
Bill Janklow, a self admitted cronic traffic law breaker, runs an intersection and through a stop sign at over 70 mph and kills a motorcyclist and will serve 30 days of his 100 day sentence in jail. Oh, I should say 30 nights, he's allowed to be out up to 10 hours a day during the period.
American Justice at it's finest.
