Black and Gold 12 or Black and Black?

Can anybody tell me if Kawasaki made a solid black 12R in 2002/03 or did somebody just paint the lower half gold with black paint, would like the part number if anybody has it. Went to Kawasaki site and couldnt find a Black/Black lower cowling on the parts diagram.

black and gold for 02....and black and a dark gray I believe for 03.....the 02 black had a blue metal flake in it, and the 03 a red metal flake....they have never made just a plain black ZX12R....after painting mine all black I wouldnt want another one

the black is so hard to keep looking clean, and it shows every little imperfection in the paint....

Someone let him know if I called that wrong...I think I got the colors right for the years....

I love that all black look in the photo above except it needs carbon 5spoke wheels and black anodized forks and calipers, and a black powdercoated swingarm!

dam RAC, I cant affor all that.......it would have the C/F wheel if I could afford them....and the swingarm is a project for the spring....gonna leave the forks alone, but i would liek to do something with the calipers and rotors....

HDL, painted my calipers black and striped the gold anodize off the rotors it totally changes the look of the front end. (just a suggestion)Also polished the fork tubes , Oldkawaboy came over last week to see it and totally approved. Yes i said polished the forks but be aware its no small project!

You can buy brake caliper paint at at any auto parts store (satin black) i personally bought mine at a place called Performance Products they sell stuff for street rods and sport compacts I recommend removing the calipers and rotors use brake cleaner on calipers then go over them with medium steel wool the paint i used did not call for any primer just a clean surface put at least three light coats to much and they might chip easier make sure you tape up the pistons good don't worry about the TOKICO emblem after you get done take a piece of 600 grit wet sandpaper and wrap it around a paint stick and sand the paint off the emblems very slowly the slower you go the better job you get. As far as the rotors go spray Maximum Strength oven cleaner on the anodized area and wait 30 minutes and it will just scrub off with a stiff brush and water it may take a couple of times to remove it all but i promise it works great i left mine aluminium.

Thanks HDL. Sold it in the summer of 2002, when I bought the 12. Was sad to see it go. It had K&N filters, jetted, V&H PowerPak inition adv module and the V&H SS2R exhaust system. It went pretty good and sounded great.
