My monitor is dying before my very eyes...

How sad... I can see it's going to pack it in.. .I've had it fixed twice in the last 7 years.... it's a Viewsonic P815 21" ... Twas the top of the line at the time and remained so for quite a while...

question is... if I cant get it repaired this time, what is the equivalent flat panel, and how do the compare for accurate color reproduction. Remember that I needed this monitor for doing "press matches" (Redelk will know what I mean) ... I have never researched flat panels as I never (how stupid of me) thought I'd see the day this one finally died (as I paid an arm and a leg fer it)...

so... someone enlighten me on an equivalent sized flatscreen with an equivaletn dot pitch etc etc...

thanks./

dude, that monitor is kinda like that one old relative everyone has that's always "just about done with her time here on earth". u told me it was abotu to pack it in like 2 or 3 years ago. just be glad ur not dealing with a blurry and dull 14 year old 17" monitor like me

whiney biatch!

on the serious side, i have yet to see an LCD with my own eyes that had decent colour reproduction. if u really want a good one, especially in a comparable size, u'r gonna be shellin out a grand at least i believe. i'd stay away personally. plus of course their refresh sucks so bad i cant stand usin em. now a PLASMA monoitor on the other hand would probably be exactly what u want. jsut dont know if anyone makes them.

I've always ran a dual Hitachi 21" setup....the Hitachi's have like .22 dot pitch so there just as clear as the Sony tubes.

Do they have that annoying wire across the shadow mask every vertical 1/3 of the screen like the Sonys do?

how's it dying?
is it getting dim?

small adjustments on the transformer in back will cure it and return your brighhtness/contrast controls to centre ;p

there should also be a focus adjustment on that same transformer

fixed many a 'dead' monitor that way. once you run out of adjustment on THAT transformer, it is indeed beyond easy repair
