Alrighty... sorry this has taken so long for me to post... I've been waiting months (literally) ... I haven't been allowed to show these photos until now.
The installation of the PC USB is pretty much the same as the PC3/R units....
Physically the units are quite different. The old PC3R looks like this....
The new unit is smaller, has different mounting points (small slots on this sides, which I used cable ties/ "zap straps" to affix it to my DinoSeatHinge). Note that the preproduction unit sports no markings or part #.
Here is a close up of the USB port...
To the left of the USB port is the expansion port so that you can plug in your ignition advance module and the other modules of which I cannot speak
One of the most noticeable differences between the old and new units is the wiring harness. It really makes to old one look pretty bad IMHO.... See for yourself..
The shielding is substantial on the new unit...
As for installation and uploading of maps, it's straight forward. Gone were the "powercommander not found" messages we all grew to love . The only problem I had was that a specific USB driver was needed to install the unit and DJ's software called for my Windows CD... like every good admin I had lent mine out so I was SOL and spent an entire day online trying to find the driver.. by the time I found it I'd gotten my disc back... It was a real life scenario and I pointed out to DJ that it could (and did) happen. I hope that they heeded my advice and are shipping the production units with all the necessary drivers.
The software interface has changed slightly. There are more options, including individual maps for each cylinder and some other cool bits. The "resolution" of the maps has increased. Also the amount of reference points for the TPS has increase enormously.
All in all it's a much better package than the original.. Definitely feels like the "future" is coming when you get to play with things like this.

The shifter is ready to rock for all pc3usb units. I haven't taken the time to put a shifter on my bike yet so there you go. So order one of the zx12 kits and show the world.
The ign module is in development. Can't say when the expected release date is but we are working on it and should be out soon (ish).

I should clear this up. I don't know if the prototype that I sent Fish is actually smaller or if he still has too many senoritas on his mind, but the Usb unit is actually slightly larger than a pcIII/r. The mounting tabs are for mounting straps and the cable is protected much better and over all is a cleaner unit.

A good admin would have stored all the CAB files on an installed computer so you dont have to go huntin' for the disc next time.

hmmm... I couldve sworn it was smaller.... I'll go and take a peak when I get a chance....

It uses the standard Usb and HID drivers from any Windows version 98SE and up. We have included a set of drivers on the cd for those of you that don't have your windows cd. Full Speed Usb (not High Speed 2.0).

NO .. you have to buy a PC USB and then wait for tearinitup to get off his ass and build the "r" expansion module so you can plug it in.

I really only care about having a good smooth running bike, Maybe I would be happy with just the 3 not the "R" model. Is it really going to make that much diff.

I think that you would be happy with a 3 Usb. We have several other features that will help you out. Closer map resolution, programable "accel pump", speed shifter, individual cylinder maping.

Thought the QS was strictly engine kill. If you wanted air or electric upshift, you'd have to do that with an existing system.

Are you completely missing my question...or am I just not asking it right
If I push the button and it kills the motor briefly....couldnt the "button" be integrated into an airshifter as well to take advantage of that kill and not have to foot shift.

I'm sure it can YCIS...
.003 isn't long enough though...I'm sure they must mean .03 sec. (at LEAST)...normal air shifters use from 50 to 80 MSec. (.05-.08 sec)...
