The PETRONAS Sprinta Racing duo of John McPhee and Ayumu Sasaki are raring to get the 2019 Moto3 season back underway after their three-week summer break, heading into this weekend’s Czech Grand Prix at the Automotodrom Brno full of confidence after strong results last time out.

McPhee will head to Brno, a circuit where he took his first Moto3 victory back in 2016, keen to get going after a strong end to the first half of the season at the Sachsenring. Now sitting sixth in the championship and a fan of the upcoming circuits, he’s aiming to get his top three challenge back underway in style at a track where he has great memories.

Sasaki also has a lot to look forward to in Brno, coming off the back of a strong performance at the German Grand Prix that saw him finish inside the top ten and with the fastest lap of the race. Well rested after spending the summer break at home in Japan, he too is upbeat about his chances as the season resumes on a circuit that suits his riding style.

The first session of practice at the Automotodrom Brno kicks off on Friday 2nd August at 0900 local time (1500 Malaysian time), with the race on Sunday 4th August at 1100 local time (1700 Malaysian time).

“I like Brno and I think the layout will really suit me. I feel very good after having three weeks away from the track and being able to go back to Japan. I’ve been training hard every day to prepare well for the second half of the season. We showed in Germany that we’re getting stronger. We expect to improve a lot and to continue in the same way, and I just need to maintain that speed and motivation. The Sachsenring was probably the best weekend I’ve ever had in Moto3, and I’m excited to start again.”
