The PETRONAS Sprinta Racing Moto2 team move on to Jerez this weekend for the Spanish GP. After three races in Qatar, Argentina and the USA, this week’s round is the first of eleven races to be held in Europe. Khairul Idham Pawi comes into the fourth event of the season fully recovered from his heavy fall at Austin.

The Malaysian rider is aiming for a return to the points at the Spanish round, having come close to a Top 15 finish at the Circuit of the Americas. He placed 17th after a difficult weekend - the aforementioned crash - and is optimistic ahead of the visit to the Jerez-Angel Nieto Circuit. His best result at the track is a 14th place in 2016, in the Moto3 class.

The Andalusian circuit hosted Moto2 official tests in November and February and Khairul Idham Pawi will try to take advantage of that experience this weekend. The first European Moto2 race of the year will get underway on Sunday at 12:20pm local time and will be contested over 23 laps.

"We have been training hard over these past two weeks in Barcelona, working to be ready for the race weekend. My recovery has been good after the crash in the USA, so I'm looking forward to the race. I like the Jerez track because of the layout and the memories I have from there. I collected some points there in Moto3 and in my first season in Moto2 I was riding in the Top 10 before a crash. I hope this year is better for us and we can have a good race. We have done a lot of testing there, so it will be a little easier to plan for the weekend. I want to have a good race and forget about Austin. Hopefully it will be a positive weekend for us and we will give our all to be in strong positions throughout."
