Albert Arenas places seventh on the first valid day of track time in Valencia, with new teammate Andrea Migno nineteenth.
The Moto3 class returned in earnest from almost three months of inactivity at Valencia on Wednesday, following an almost entirely inactive opening day of testing on Tuesday. Wednesday saw a damp track to start off the day, bu tended with the sun shining and the lower cylinder class teams beginning their work on their new bikes. Gabriel Rodrigo was the fastest rider, stopping the clock at 1:40.324. 2017 race winner Jorge Martín was second quickest, ahead of Marco Bezzechi.

The Ángel Nieto Team debuted their alliance with KTM in the Moto3 class with the seventh fastest time of the day, set by Albert Arenas. He ended Wednesday 6 tenths off the best time. He was happy with his first experience on the bike, and will work further on its setup on Thursday. He completed 24 laps in the two sessions in which he participated, with three more sessions available to him tomorrow. Teammate Andrea Migno was positive after his first day of testing this year. He had previously ridden with his team in testing last November. The Italian was not as fast this time around, but expects to continue improving ahead of his new challenge with the Ángel Nieto Team.

7th Albert Arenas 1:40.936 (24 laps): “I’m happy after this first day with the KTM. I was able to put in a few laps at the start, going out and back into the pits, and although it wasn’t a hot lap, I gave my all to enjoy my time on the bike and focus on the setup. It wasn’t easy, as the track was cold, but that didn’t stop me feeling comfortable on the bike and having a good feeling from the start. We have a good base, and from this we will keep working with everybody’s help to find the ideal setup. I can’t wait to continue discovering the bike and gathering more data.”

19th Andrea Migno 1:42.094 (28 laps): “We weren’t very fast today, but I’m positive because I know that the team and the bike are very good. After the first test we had in November, we came out with a better feeling, but we have further days here in Valencia and at Jerez in which to improve with this new bike. I’m going to give my all.”
