AUSTRIA - MOTO3 RACE2017-08-13 12:00
SIC Racing Team rider Adam Norrodin achieved his season best result today, as he battled to the bitter end to cross the line in a hard fought 8th place.
Teammate Ayumu Sasaki experienced a difficult start to the twenty three lap race, but relentlessly pushed for positions, just missing out on the points in 18th.
Johan Stigefelt – Team Manager
“It was a really hard race today; we knew it would be tight here. Adam didn’t have a great start and wasn’t able to gain any positions in the beginning but it was a very chaotic first two laps and he defended his place well. He stayed in the top fifteen throughout the whole race and battled with the front group. I think this is a great result for Adam and his best so far this year. He has shown all weekend that he is strong and today has proved that he is coming stronger and stronger every round. It was a very tough race; he could have finished top five or top fifteen but he fought very hard to the end. We could see he made a big effort and I want to say thanks to him for battling hard and staying strong throughout the whole race.
Ayumu made a good start off the line and was in the first group, but then he made a mistake on the second lap and dropped back. He couldn’t really get back to the group where Adam was fighting after this and the gap increased. He was battling for fifteenth in the end but unfortunately he couldn’t take the last point. It was a hard race for him as well but nevertheless we have to learn from this and go forward for the next race.”
#7 ADAM NORRODIN - P8
“I’m really happy with the work we are doing now. We are coming stronger and stronger and I feel so good about the progression we are making. This weekend we were strong from the beginning and were already up there in FP1; I have felt very comfortable on the bike throughout this GP.
I didn’t make a good start today and this cost us a lot of time. I dropped quite far back on the first couple of laps but I didn’t want to ruin our good weekend and all the effort we had put in, so I just focussed on finding my rhythm and then fought as hard as I could until the end. It was a really nice race; everyone was so strong and battling to get a good position. I kept thinking about the points and improving my overall position. We achieved our best result of the season so far today, so I’m very happy for this. We are going in the right direction. We have to keep our focus and continuing moving forward like this. For sure we can do even better. I want to say a big thanks to my team for always supporting me; without them these things wouldn’t happen.”
#71 AYUMU SASAKI - P18
“I’m disappointed with my result because from yesterday we had a good pace to follow the front group today. My start was not so bad but then on the second and third lap I ran wide at turn three and I got stuck in the second group; this was my mistake. The team have worked really hard this weekend and the bike was perfect in the race, so I have to take responsibility for what happened today. I’m sorry to my crew for this. I wanted a lot more here. It’s a shame to finish like this but we are making good progress and I feel stronger on the bike, I just need to stop making these little mistakes because the cost is great; I’m confident that we can fight in the front group at the next race.”
