Solid start to the second half for McPhee2017-08-04 11:09
John McPhee got the Czech GP off to a solid start, ending Friday in P15 on the combined timesheets. FP1 was characterised by rain on Day 1, before FP2 saw a drying track eventually allowing the majority of the field to improve their laptimes. After struggling in wetter conditions for some of the season, McPhee made good breakthroughs at Brno.
The Scot did fifteen laps in the morning, with a fastest of 2:24.434, putting him well inside the top ten in P8. The afternoon session was a similar count with fourteen laps completed, and an improved time of 2:23.256. That put him in P15, where he ended the day on combined timesheets.
Qualifying for Moto3™ begins at 12:35 (GMT +2) on Saturday, before race day beckons on Sunday.
John McPhee, P15: “I really enjoyed being back on the bike today. The rain put a bit of a twist in things but I still had a lot of fun. FP1 was a good session and I felt like I found more feeling with the bike in the rain than I've had all year. FP2 I had a few small issues which meant I lost valuable track time but fortunately was able to get my name back on the board in the last few minutes of the session. I'm looking forward to whatever tomorrow brings weather wise and feel like I can be strong in all conditions."
