Challenging Day for RCH/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing at RedBud

2017-07-03 17:31
RCH/Yoshimura/Suzuki Factory Racing riders Justin Bogle and Broc Tickle powered through a challenging day to earn respectable finishes in Saturday’s Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Rockford Fosgate RedBud National.

Bogle was a mainstay in the top five for much of the opening moto for the premier 450 Class but a fall near the halfway point left the rider of the No. 19 Suzuki nursing a sore wrist for the rest of the day. Still Bogle raced through the pain and came away with a respectable 7-9 finish, earning him an eighth-place overall showing.

The workman-like effort powered the 24-year-old Cushing, Okla., racer into a tie for fifth in points with half the season yet to be contested.

“This weekend at RedBud was not too great and not too bad,” commented Bogle. “The first moto was good. I was running a good pace in fourth and I felt like I had that position locked down but I ended up going down in a sweeper and landed funny on my wrist. I struggled with that for the rest of the moto and the rest of the day. Second moto, I got a good start but I made a handful of mistakes during the first lap and kind of shot myself in the foot. Once I settled in I was able to make a couple of passes. Unfortunately, I was pretty far back to do anything with it. I ended up eighth overall. I’ll keep working and get back up there in the top five. I feel like I should be there every week so that’s the goal.”

Tickle battled through a shoulder injury he sustained in Saturday morning’s second practice session, but the Holly, Mich., rider stayed the course to finish 18th in the first moto and 17th in the second. While he slipped from fifth to seventh the championship, the rider of the No. 20 Suzuki RM-Z450 knows the remaining six races is plenty of time to make up for lost ground.

“RedBud was tough,” Tickle said. “I crashed in the second practice and dislocated my shoulder. We popped it back in but it was pretty painful. I decided to race and try to just manage some points but that’s really how my day went. I crashed again in the first turn of the first moto so that didn’t help, either. I’m going to try and get my shoulder better this week and hopefully be able to race at Southwick. If I can get through the next race, then we’ll have a week off so that should give me plenty of time for my shoulder to get better. That’s the focus right now. Obviously, I’m bummed about the situation and my results but I managed to do the best I could and not hurt myself anymore than what I already did.”

The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship returns to the Wick 338 in Southwick, Mass., next weekend for one of the most unique and grueling contests on the summer schedule.

The first moto of Round 7 from the Red Bull Southwick National will be televised live on MAVTV Sat., July 8 beginning at 1 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, 10 a.m. Pacific. Live television coverage for the second moto will shift to NBC at 3;30 p.m. EDT, noon Pacific.

All motos can be streamed live on the NBC Sports Gold app. NBC, NBCSN and MAVTV will combine to provide extensive television coverage over the course of the 12-round season. Capping off each round of the championship will be exclusive one-hour highlight shows on NBCSN, each airing within a handful of days of every National.
