Barcelona: Masaki on pole, Ogura on the front row

2017-06-17 19:13
Kazuki Masaki is ready to lead from the front at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya as round three of the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship gets in gear, after the Japanese rider took a stunning pole position in Montmelo. The incredible showing continued with Ai Ogura in P2, with fellow Asia Talent Team riders also impressing to start sixth - Yuki Kunii – and twelfth – Andi Farid.

Farid is back on track after recent injury, but this weekend the reigning Asia Talent Cup winner Somkiat Chantra suffered a crash on Friday. The Thai rider will therefore sit out this date on the calendar as he prepares for surgery on some broken bones in his left hand.

The weather for qualifying on Saturday was hot and the sun shining, with times set in the morning significantly faster than the afternoon. Masaki’s pole lap was a 1:54.062 and the Japanese rider will be looking to convert that into his first win of the year – with Ogura sure to prove a key rival once the lights go out.

Race 1 begins at 11:00 local time (GMT +2), Race 2 at 14:00 - and both will be 16 laps.

As always all of the action can be followed LIVE on FIM CEV Repsol YouTube channel.
