Continued progress for Kouwenberg in America

This weekend saw Nick Kouwenberg continue to make progress in the American 250 Supercross West Region Championship.

The second event of the 2016 season, held at San Diego’s PETCO Park, saw Kouwenberg take to the track aboard the CRF250R with the aim of making further progress towards the Main Event race.

The Dutchman was carrying an injury from a crash during the Last Chance Qualifier in Anaheim, but was able to set a qualifying time that was under one second away from a top 20 spot.

Despite a good start in the heat race that saw Kouwenberg gain valuable positions, Nick was unable to progress in the short six lap race to a Main Event qualifying place. Unfortunately, a couple of mistakes in the Last Chance Qualifier prevented Kouwenberg from progressing into the Main Event race.

The next event in the American 250 Supercross West Region Championship will see Nick return to the Angel Stadium of Anaheim on 23rd January.

Nick Kouwenberg
“It was a little bit more relaxed seeing the guys for the second time. It was tough again as expected but it was better in my mind this time. I’ve taken it easy this week because I’m still carrying injury from Anaheim but even with that we have changed a small thing that helped progress. The heat race goes so fast, it’s like it has ended before you’ve even watched it. My confidence is building every week but I know I need more riding time before I can improve enough to make the main event.”
