Sofuoglu Ready To Race After Qualifying Second In France

2015-10-03 17:59
Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) used his Ninja ZX-6R to near perfection in the wet qualifying session at Magny-Cours to go second quickest and take a much-desired front row place on the grid.

The tricky wet conditions in qualifying, a contrast to the earlier dry sessions enjoyed by the WSS riders through practice, were negotiated well by Sofuoglu as he ran out only 0.040 seconds from pole man Patrick Jacobsen, his only remaining championship rival.
Kenan, with a 33-point lead and only two rounds to go, can take the title on Sunday by finishing in second place, even if Jacobsen wins the race.
Already a three time WSS Champion, Kenan will now focus on making sure he wins the championship, first and foremost, ideally by winning the 19-lap race.
Marco Faccani (San Carlo Puccetti Racing Kawasaki) had an unlucky qualifying and will now start from 22nd place on the grid.
Christian Gamarino (Go Eleven Kawasaki) was 15th and Dominic Schmitter (Team Go Eleven Kawasaki) 16th, after the change from dry to wet conditions in qualifying.
Kenan Sofuoglu: “I knew I had to finish on the front row to make sure of a good start in the race and I am happy that we did that. I am not a qualifying person. Today it was wet but if it is a dry day on Sunday everybody can see we are very strong and we have good race pace. If it was a dry qualifying session today I think we could have had a pole position. I am just happy we are on the front row and the bike is working perfectly in dry conditions. If everything goes like normal I think we can win the title tomorrow. Hopefully tomorrow we can concentrate on our race, make a good pace and win the title - not win the race. But it could be nice if we do those things together, because I think we have the potential to win tomorrow.”
