COLDENHOFF 12TH IN HOT GLEN HELEN OPENER

2015-09-20 08:28
Temperatures nudged high into the 30s at Glen Helen for practice and qualification for the Monster Energy MXGP of USA and Rockstar Energy Suzuki Europe’s Glenn Coldenhoff endured the conditions to place 12th in the afternoon sprint and hold the same slot for the start gate tomorrow.

The 24 year old Dutchman was already feeling the effects of the climate in Timed Practice and was struggling with illness and a lack of strength ahead of the 20-minute and two-lap ‘Heat’. In what is his last Grand Prix on the RM-Z450, ‘#259’ did his best to circulate the steep hills of the Californian layout and still managed to get near the top-10.

Higher temperatures are predicted for race day tomorrow for what is the 18th and final round of the 2015 FIM Motocross World Championship. MX2 saw Jeremy Seewer baulked out of the gate on his RM-Z250 but the Swiss rode a solid race to capture fifth place. Team-mates Brian Hsu and Bas Vaessen rode to ninth and 13th positions respectively.

Glenn Coldenhoff:

“A really hard day. I just felt sick and had no energy. The heat obviously didn't help and I just pushed as hard as I could in the race. I’ll have to try and recover the best I can for tomorrow and just see what we can take out of this last GP.”
