Renaux takes 125 Junior World Championship win

Kemea Yamaha Yamalube’s Maxime Renaux continued an exemplary season on YZ125 machinery by winning the 2015 FIM Junior World Championship today in Madrid. The fifteen year old enjoyed an entertaining battle with Britain’s Conrad Mewse in both motos at El Molar but triumphed on the open and scenic course with a perfect 1-1 scorecard.

Renaux travelled to Spain on the back of some hot form in the EMX125 European Championship where he has won three of the six rounds held so far (from a total of eight on the 2015 schedule) and leads the standings by ten points over New Zealand’s Josiah Natzke. The French teenager has been nothing short of impressive since coming into the Kemea set-up and has shown tenacity and technique in the European competition run at MXGP events and across the same tracks and obstacles as the world’s elite.

At El Molar Renaux narrowly beat Mewse by half a second in the first race and by the slightly bigger margin of one second in the second sprint. It marked a career goal for Max who now has to look towards the Grand Prix of Belgium at Lommel on August 1st-2nd to try and extend his advantage in EMX. “World Champion! I’m so proud and almost didn't expect this…a bit thanks to my team and sponsors, now onto Belgium,” he said.

“What an achievement for Maxime and what a season he is having,” commented MX Racing Manager Erik Eggens. “We had high hopes when Max came into the Kemea set-up and identified him as a big talent that we wanted to take right through to the highest level. He is fulfilling our expectations across the board at the moment and we couldn't ask much more from what is already a mature and very promising athlete. We also must forget what a fine and competitive motorcycle the YZ125 still is; our two-stroke is capable of world championship success. A big congratulations to Max, his family and Kemea Yamaha Yamalube for a great day in Spain.”
