Team Green Leaves Thor Winter Olympics with 21 Total Championships

2014-12-03 13:47
Following an impressive start to the week in supercross where Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green earned 10 championships, the riders transitioned to the historic Gatorback motocross track to continue raking in the championship titles. Leading the way was Austin Forkner, competing in his first amateur national on a KX™250F, who fought to claim three championships including 250 B, 450 B, and Schoolboy (13-16). Darian Sanayei battled in 250 and 450 Pro Sport and A classes and was awarded the coveted Dunlop Silver Tire Award as the most outstanding expert division rider and the A class Olympiad championships for motocross and supercross combined. Also claiming multiple championships was Jett Reynolds and John Grewe adding up to 11 motocross championships to finish the week.

Team Green had a fresh crop of B riders as Forkner, Joey Crown, and Jordan Bailey made their amateur national debuts in the B class. Forkner was undefeated, winning all six of his motos, while Crown won his division moto in 250 B Limited with Bailey finishing second, and Tristan Miller also won his division moto in 250 B. In the A class it was Sanayei and Mitchell Harrison grabbing holeshots and leading the field. Harrison finished third overall in 250 A and 250 Pro Sport while Sanayei finished second.

Reynolds was one to watch as he rode his KX™65 and KX™85 to victory. Jett won the 65cc (7-9) championship, but it was the 85cc (9-11) championship that was impressive. At only nine years old, Jett is the youngest rider in the class but that didn’t stop him from pulling way from kids twice his size. Meanwhile, it was Garrett Marchbanks and Carson Mumford dominating the Super Mini classes. Mumford won his division moto but was forced sit out the main event after a crash. Marchbanks however ran away with the Super Mini 2 (13-16) championship on his KX™100.

All week long Team Green was busy helping Kawasaki riders with whatever they needed to succeed throughout the week. Whether it was replacement parts after a crash, help with engine tuning, or simply technical advice, Team Green’s expert technicians had the answers and stuck around hours after each day’s racing concluded to assure every Kawasaki rider was ready to line up on the gate the next day.

Team Green extends from tomorrow’s champions to those who race for fun and have true passion for motocross. The Kawasaki KX™450F was the bike of choice for Vet riders as John Grewe took home the Vet 35+ and Senior 45+ championships, Scott Sheak won the Senior 40+ class, and Earl May won the Masters 50+ title.

Mini O’s also marked the final round of the AMA Women’s Pro Motocross Championship (WMX). Marissa Markelon was sitting three points behind in the championship and needed to win in order to put the No.1 on her KX™250F. Disaster struck while Markelon was racing the Women (14+) class and ran into engine trouble. Fortunately, she knew to turn to Team Green trackside support and they got her back up and running and able to line up for the final WMX round. Markelon won both motos and clinched her first WMX championship.
