Strong Start for Zarco at Silverstone

Dominating free practice one, Johann Zarco immediately set the pace around the fast flowing British circuit. Completing the first of the days’ sessions at the top of the time sheets and feeling relaxed on his #5 Caterham Suter, the Frenchman continued to improve his time in second practice finishing just 0.285s off P1.

Meanwhile team mate Josh Herrin worked hard to get to grips with the track. Focussing on learning the layout, the Moto2 rookie steadily chipped away at his time throughout both sessions.

#5 Johann Zarco: “It has been a good Friday. I was first in free practice one and fourth in the afternoon session.

“In FP2 I was able to play a lot with the tyres, so maybe I was able to still improve the lap time and stay first; I didn’t do this but we are not worried, we are quite confident that I can be fast.

“The feeling on the bike is good. It was moving in the morning but I could fix it with my body and by controlling the throttle. I feel calm and focussed to always be aggressive and to continue to be faster.
The weather conditions also look set to improve, so we will see.

“It’s great to restart in good form and as one of the top riders, because this is exactly where I want to be.”

#2 Josh Herrin: “Today has been quite difficult as I found the track harder to learn than most.

“We need to look at the data tonight and figure out where we can improve. Like the last couple of rounds I’m losing a lot on the brakes, so I need to work out what I can do to fix that.
If I can improve my braking areas I think we will immediately be in the top twenty, but it’s difficult to just change. We will focus on this for tomorrow and hopefully we will see a big improvement.”
