URGENT NEWS FOR SUZUKI GSX-R OWNERS FROM CRESCENT SUZUKI

2013-10-28 12:31
Suzuki has announced a recall on GSX-R600, 750 and 1000cc machines from 2004 onwards for a modification to front brake master cylinder and Crescent Suzuki is ready to hear from any customers that need to know if their bike is included.

The recall is due to a small number of reports of bikes having a ‘spongy’ feel to the front brakes, but Suzuki is keen to express that no incidents have been reported due to this problem. Suzuki GB’s Denis Houston commented; “Investigations into reports of the front brake lever developing a ‘spongy’ feeling over time have revealed the cause to be moisture naturally absorbed by the brake fluid, affecting the return spring inside the master cylinder.

“As the braking system is safety critical and there are no external indications that corrosion of the spring has begun, the brake master cylinder assembly is to be replaced free of charge.”

Due to the recall and the work involved, just contact Crescent Suzuki and it will replace the front brake master cylinder on affected models, with a unit that has a redesigned reservoir port and updated surface treatment on the brake piston, as well as several associated parts that will also need to be replaced. All you need to do is contact the service departments at Verwood on 01202 820170 or Southampton on 023 8040 3203, or visit the stores, to find out if your machine is on the recall list. If your bike needs to have the work done, Crescent will also carry out a full health check on all bikes brought in for the recall, totally free of charge and irrespective of recent service history, so you’ll have complete peace-of-mind that your bike is as healthy as it could or what is needed to make it that.

Customers with officially imported road registered machines will also be notified via post using DVLA sourced data, but the easy way is to contact Crescent Suzuki and it can give you an answer straight-away and book you in for the work – if it’s needed – at the earliest possible opportunity.
