All Seven Races to Count for Women’s 2013 GEICO EnduroCross Championship2013-04-25 19:14The Women’s class has quickly become a fan favorite at GEICO AMA EnduroCross events, fueled by Monster Energy and presented by Lucas Oil. At the same time, the number and skill level of the female riders has increased dramatically. So for the first time, all seven EnduroCross events will count points towards the 2013 Women’s Championship. KTM’s Maria Forsberg won the 2012 Women’s GEICO EnduroCross Championship, which included just five of the events. She battled with the top female Trials rider, Louise Forsley to the final race and these two riders are the favorites for the 2013 title. Canada’s Chantelle Bykerk had several podium finishes, including a few wins and she too will be a threat for the title along with multi time WORCS Women’s Champion Kacy Martinez. And you can’t count out Rachel Gutish, the teenager that already has extensive off-road racing experience. And then comes word that Jessica Patterson, the multi time Women’s Motocross Champion giving EnduroCross a try. So you can add the Women’s class to the list of reasons to attend an EnduroCross event in 2013. “The Women’s class has generated a lot of buzz since the first event at X Games a few years ago” said Mike Karsting, VP of events for Source Interlink. “Some of that publicity was negative due to the difficulty that the riders had with some of the obstacles but we now have 10-12 female riders that can race around an EnduroCross track so we are excited about providing a legitimate championship series to showcase these racers”. The opening round of the 2013 GEICO AMA EnduroCross Championship, fueled by Monster Energy and presented by Lucas Oil will take place in Las Vegas on Friday, May 3rd during the Monster Energy AMA Supercross finals weekend.
