MILLSAPS EXTENDS SUPERCROSS POINTS LEAD

Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki's Davi Millsaps extended his lead in the AMA/ FIM World Supercross Championship to seven points with second place at Saturday's fourth round at Oakland.

Millsaps had a great start in the Main Event, missing a huge pile-up behind him, and riding smart for the 20-lap race to collect his third podium from four races.

Said Millsaps: "It was a good ending to a day that started off not that great and I'm pretty excited about it; a pretty cool ride. First practice and second practice were not that great, but the third practice was better. I was still uncomfortable and not feeling it and even in the heat race I was struggling. To come out on the podium definitely got my confidence back up."

In the 250cc class, Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki's Jason Anderson felt like Oakland owed him one after suffering a leg injury in 2012 as he headed for a first career podium: This year, Anderson qualified the best he ever has in practice, putting in several impressive times. In his heat race, he was involved in a first turn altercation that put him at the back of the pack, but he managed to fight his way to third. Then in the 250 Main, he raced to a podium position with third.

Said Anderson: "This weekend was good. I came into the race a little sick and was just trying to salvage the day, but it ended up being my best weekend so far. I'm happy with that, so just ready to build on that heading into next weekend."

Anderson's team-mate Ryan Sipes is still recovering from the crash he was involved in last week, but was at Oakland to support the team. Sipes is hoping to be back fighting for podiums when the series heads south to San Diego.

Said Sipes: "I thought the night went really well for the team. Jason rode a solid race for third. It looked like he finally got a good start and just rode comfortably out there and definitely something to build on. Davi rode great again. He was the only guy on Ryan Villopoto's level and rode smart for a solid second place and still has the points lead! I'm ready to get back out there and mix it up in the front with those guys. My hand is getting better every day so it's just a matter of time."
