TYCO SUZUKI SIGN MACKENZIE FOR SUPERSPORT

Tyco Suzuki will return to the British Supersport Championship in 2013 with exciting young Scottish rider Taylor Mackenzie in the GSX-R600 saddle.

The 19-year-old son of Niall - a three time British Superbike champion who was also part of the Suzuki family during his illustrious 500cc Grand Prix career - stepped up from two-stroke racing to the cut-and-thrust British Supersport series this year. His finest hour was at the season finale at Brands Hatch taking a respectable sixth place and he is now looking forward to teaming up with double British Supersport champions TAS Racing.

Taylor Mackenzie:

"I'm really excited to be joining Tyco Suzuki in British Supersport and I can't wait to get started. At the end of the season nothing was really happening but once I'd spoken to Tyco Suzuki and knew there was a deal on the table to ride their championship-winning GSX-R600 package, I was so happy. They have a lot of experience in the Supersport class and this deal has really given me so much motivation for next season. Last year I wasn't sure what to expect in British Supersport but now that I've a year under my belt, my aim is to keep moving forward and hopefully be on the podium as soon as possible."

Philip Neill - Team Manager:

"It's an exciting proposition for us going back into the British Supersport class. It's an important part of the BSB championship and we've already proven how competitive the GSX-R600 package is with our championship success in 2011, and also taking a win this season in our only race in Supersport class at Assen.

"It's refreshing to bring in an enthusiastic and talented young rider like Taylor, which will help us start the development process going all over again, a bit like we did with Tom Sykes, and his career has gone from strength to strength. The Mackenzie family are well respected in the paddock and also within Suzuki, and I know I speak on behalf of Suzuki GB when I say we are delighted to have them back in the fold. Niall's influence will continue to be vital for Taylor but at Tyco Suzuki we will build our 2011 championship winning team around him to give him the best chance possible during the season."
