The Misano Circuit in San Marino will be the site of Round 7 of the 2012 World Superbike Championship series. Team Althea racers Carlos Checa and Davide Giugliano have both experienced success at this facility. In 2011, Checa scored a double win and Giugliano won the Superstock 1000 class race by more than 3 seconds over his closest competitor. Following mixed results from 2 weeks ago in the United States the team comes to Misano looking to finish on the podium and score valuable championship points. Checa is currently ranked 5th and Giugliano is 9th in the overall season points standings.

Checa spoke about his previous race and what he was expecting from this weekend’s event. “I was very disappointed about the race 2 crash at Miller, not what we needed after the race one win. But now, I’m concentrating on Misano, where I hope to make two great races in front of the Italian crowd. It will be a tough weekend, but I’m confident that we can be competitive. We need to understand the conditions, the grip and our rivals’ level, but if we work hard and avoid taking unnecessary risks, I know we can take solid results at Misano, a track that I enjoy and where you can always count on the enthusiastic support of the fans.”

Giugliano was also optimistic about this weekend’s race. “As I’ve said in the past, this year is all about growing and building up experience. I’ve had ups and downs in the first half of this season, but now we are at the mid-point of the championship. I hope to be able to score strong results more consistently. I like the Misano track and won here last year, so I’m looking forward to seeing what I can do here with the superbike.”

World Motocross
The 2012 FIM World Motocross Championship Series will continue this weekend in Agueda, Portugal for the GP of Portugal.

Following their strong rides in their home country last weekend, the Bel-Ray backed CP377 Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit team of Christophe and Sebastein Pourcel are looking to keep their momentum moving forward this weekend. Christophe’s strong 2nd place overall in St. Jean D’Angely cemented him as a contender for the world championship title. Sebastein regained his form last week with an excellent 6th place second moto finish and 8th overall. Both riders are expected to be top finishers this weekend.

The Bel-Ray backed Floride Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit team of Tommy Searle and Joel Roelants have been consistent top finishers all season long, as they vie for a world championship title. Searle is just out of the top spot in 2nd overall, while Roelants is in the top 5 in 4th place. Searle has experienced success in Portugal, just a year ago, with a second place overall finish.

AMA Motocross
The 2012 AMA National Motocross Championship heads east this weekend for the 36th Annual FMF High Point National, presented by United Bank in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania. Recognized by many of the riders as their favorite race track on this circuit, this facility has seen some of the closest racing in National Championship history.

Coming into round 4 of the WMX, Bel-Ray backed Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki’s Jessica Patterson has 3 moto and 2 overall victories as well as a 16 point lead in the championship chase. Following this weekend in Pennsylvania, the WMX series will enjoy a break before resuming action on July 7th in Michigan.
