WHY: Every year, thousands of people of all ages are diagnosed with blood cancers like leukemia or lymphoma, sickle cell anemia or other life-threatening diseases. Many of them will die unless they get a bone marrow transplant from a matching donor. Seventy percent of people do not have a donor in their family and depend on Be The Match ® Registry to find a match to save their life.
Kim McGrath was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago and underwent several surgeries and treatment. A recent biopsy revealed that she has leukemia cutis. She is now undergoing chemotherapy and will subsequently require a bone marrow transplant. Her husband, Jeremy McGrath, is asking volunteers to sign up for a bone marrow drive as soon as possible in hopes of finding a match for her.
