MX for Children's Jackpot Challenge Raises Over $43,000 in Advance of This Weekend's Monster Energy Supercross Finale2012-05-03 15:37
The support of Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, for the MX for Children initiative reached even greater heights in 2012, with the announcement that over $43,000 was raised in the name of medical research with the foundation’s Jackpot Challenge. Fundraisers with a passion for Monster Energy Supercross throughout the United States and Canada set a donation record this year in the continued fight against hydrocephalus. Since 2005, MX for Children has raised nearly $600,000 for medical research with the help of Monster Energy Supercross.
The nation’s leading Children’s Hospitals – including Children’s Hospital of Alabama, Houston’s Texas Children’s, Pittsburgh Children’s, Salt Lake City’s Primary Children’s, Seattle Children’s, St. Louis Children’s, and Toronto’s SickKids – will benefit directly from these efforts.
“We are delighted to see the incredible results of the young kids raising money for MX for Children,” said Todd Jendro, vice president of two wheel operations, Feld Motor Sports®. “It is gratifying to see the riders and teams give their time to reward these kids who are making a difference in the lives of sick kids.”
The Inside Line Experience, which allows MX for Children’s top fundraisers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to see the sport and riders up close and personal, featured more stops on the 17-race Monster Energy Supercross schedule than ever. The Jackpot Challenge, in association with the final race of the championship in Las Vegas, signifies the opportunity for the top fundraiser in North America to enjoy the experience-of-a-lifetime at the sold out race.
This year, 5-year-old Koen McLeod, of Oakville, Ontario in Canada, will receive a VIP trip for two to Las Vegas this weekend after raising $11,750 – an MX for Children record. Canadians also raised the second- and third-largest amounts, with Travis Byrom and Hannah McCrory also generating exceptional donations.
