Kawasaki's JD Beach Takes Fifth in Knoxville

2011-09-12 20:32
Kawasaki’s JD Beach piloted his Ninja® 650-powered twin into fifth place at Round 17 of the AMA Pro Flat Track series in Knoxville, Iowa. In the sport’s anticipated return to Knoxville Raceway, Beach powered his flat-tracker to his best finish of the season. Scott Powersports Kawasaki’s Johnny Lewis finished sixth.

Cross-Over Athlete
Crossing over from the AMA Pro Road Racing series, Beach had little time to transition from his ZX™-10R to his Ninja 650-powered flat tracker. He proved his bike racing skills are universal, transferring into the main after taking fourth in his heat race. During the main Beach got a good start and maintained a consistent pace to finish in fifth-place, only fractions of a second away from the podium

Solid Finisher
Lewis has been the most successful Kawasaki pilot of the AMA Flat Track series in the Expert Twins class this season. With only three rounds left on the circuit, he currently sits seventh in the points standings. At Knoxville Lewis rode a solid race, finishing sixth, close behind fellow Kawasaki pilot Beach.

The Star of the North
In two weeks the series heads to North Central Speedway in Brainerd, Minn., for Round 18 of the AMA Pro Flat Track series. With the AMA Pro Road Racing season at a close, Beach will be able to focus all his efforts on finishing the flat track season strong. Lewis will be working hard to grab his second podium of the year and earn enough points to move up the leaderboard.
