Parry Sound race report

This past weekend the World Enduro Canada crowd invaded the Hurd Pit in Parry Sound for the third round of the Weisner Insurance Cross Country on the Saturday, and on Sunday the DirtyBikes.ca X Sprint.

Wojo had a solid race on Saturday, with times that got progressively faster as the day wore on, to the amazement of fans and organizers. “He just doesn’t quit,” WEC organizer Sean Weisner said. “I’m really looking forward to seeing how he does out west. Brian puts so much hard work into this.”

In front of the family, including wife Kimberley and son Matthew, Wojo pulled a win out with some blistering fast lap times. “It was nice to win with my family here,” said Wojo.

“I didn’t have the best start, but I put my head down and pushed hard,” said the blue rider. “I was a little worried about all the dust, but it wasn’t all that bad. The course was well laid out and easy to follow.”

And push hard he did, coming home with another win, representing Yamaha/Machine Racing on the top spot of the podium.

On Sunday, the riders were back at the pit for the sprint, with team manager John Nelson and last year’s team mate Adam Millson. Millson plans on joining the Yamaha/Machine Racing crew for the eastern CECs aboard his YZf450. “It’s just an awesome bike, I can’t wait to rip it up,” said the charismatic Blue 22.

“I really like the sprint format,” said Wojo. “It gives the spectators a great chance to watch. It’s not always fun for my family to come to the events, they only get to see me come through for such a short period of time. With the Sprint series, they can watch several tests and get multiple chances to watch. I also like getting a chance to watch other riders go through the tests.”

A Sprint win is decided by who has the fastest test times after five laps. Wojo beat out fellow blue bike rider Adam Millson, who finished second, and KTM’s Kevin Cockayne, third place, placing himself on the top spot of the podium.

“I’m really happy with the way I rode this weekend,” said Wojo. “Mark (from LGS) and I put a lot of effort in this week getting everything dialled in, and I think we have it just right.”

Wojo would like to thank all of his sponsors: Yamaha, Machine Racing, LGS, Podium Grafix, Bondi Engines, Works Connection, Yamalube, Rekluse, AXO Gear, PerformX, Orthoflex, LRP and AME Grips for their support.
