Herlings and van Horebeek recover from 1st moto crash to dominate 2nd moto2011-03-14 08:51The Red Bull Teka factory MX2 duo Jeffrey Herlings and Jeremy van Horebeek managed a great comeback after a spectacular crash at the start of the opening moto of the Dutch Championship in Gemert on Sunday. Jeffrey went on to win the second moto to be second overall and Jeremy was fourth overall at the end of the day. "Another rider fell over onto Jeremy and he fell on me and we all got tangled up at the start of the first moto," said Jeffrey speaking to KTM Racing News by phone from Gemert after the race. "It was a big one and it could have been bad with 40 riders on the start." Given the spectacular crash both riders had a lucky escape. Jeremy escaped without injury and Jeffrey gave his thumb a knock. "It was pretty swollen so I had an injection for the pain and rode the second moto with it strapped up," Jeffrey said. The 16-year-old Dutch teenager has just returned to competition after a seven month injury layoff after injuring his shoulder last year in Loket in the Czech Republic. Despite this spectacular start to their day's racing, Jeffrey still finished a heroic fifth in the opening race and Jeremy, from Belgium was seventh. They wrapped up their day's ride first and second in the second moto. Another strong performer was KTM rider Jordi Tixier of France, who was second in the first moto and sixth in the second.
