2010 FIM Gala Ceremony - The Show goes on

Whilst certain parts of Europe have been gripped by the early onset of winter, the Portuguese coastal town of Estoril is basking in bright sunshine as it awaits tomorrow’s prestigious FIM Gala Ceremony. Sitting just north of the capital city of Lisbon, Estoril is no stranger to being in the global spot light with it now being an established stop on the MotoGP tour.

Already many of the FIM World Champions are arriving in the seaside destination in preparation to collect their awards tomorrow evening. The ceremony, which will be presented by motorcycling’s most famous female TV face - Suzi Perry, will be broadcast live in a number of different countries around the World.

No less than thirty FIM World Champions will be present at the Estoril Casino tomorrow evening, with the current elite of two-wheel sport being joined by seven motorcycling legends. These include Katja Poensgen, Ivan Mauger, Anders Eriksson, Jordi Tarres, Roger de Coster, Carl Fogarty and Giacomo Agostini, who will also be honoured during this glittering occasion.

In addition to the widespread TV coverage, motorcycle fans across the globe will also be able to watch the ceremony live on the internet at FIM-LIVE.com – the coverage will begin at 21.00hrs GMT.

Commenting on FIM Gala, Olivier Godallier begin, FIM Marketing and Communications Director said. “Although the winter weather has caused us a few extra logistical considerations, everything is very much on schedule for tomorrow evening. The riders and legends seem genuinely excited about this unique opportunity to celebrate the champions and successes of this season, plus the chance to show case motorcycle sport as a whole live on TV.”
