Strong finish to E2 season by KTM's factory rider Thomas Oldrati; Cervantes second

With the title and second place already wrapped up on Saturday with Finland's Mika Aloha sealing the world championship title and KTM's Ivan Cervantes with a fourth place on Saturday to secure second overall it was up to the team's young rider Thomas Oldrati to step up to the plate on Sunday

Oldrati finished the weekend with a 3-2 result just behind another KTM rider Pierre-Alexandre Renet of France, enough to vault him on to the season's overall podium in third place behind teammate Cervantes.

With riders having to tackle wet grassy surfaces and mud that even Ahola described as "like riding on ice" it was not the conditions that suit Cervantes, who is much more at home on harder surfaces like those in his native Spain. In fact it was French rider Fabien Planet who reveled in the conditions and dominated the E2 on Saturday before he exited with electrical problems in the final lap, leaving Renet and Oldrati to slip onto the podium in the minor places.

Sunday proved to be a good day for Renet the top E2 rider of the day with Oldrati close behind in third place. Cervantes retired after slightly twisting his knee on day two.
