GoPro Becomes Official Wearable Camera of the Lucas Oil Motocross Championship

2010-06-08 20:24
In its continued efforts to usher American motocross into the new era, MX Sports Pro Racing welcomes GoPro as one of the newest supporters of the world's most prestigious motocross championship. As maker of the world's best selling and highest performance wearable HD video cameras, GoPro and its flagship HD HERO line will now serve as the Official Wearable Camera of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship.

Since the opening round at Hangtown and throughout the remainder of the 12-race 2010 season, HD HERO cameras will be the featured product of the outdoor nationals, worn by several of the world's best riders and integrated into broadcast coverage on AlliSports.com, SPEED and NBC Sports. Highlight edits and on board lapping footage, including the Rockstar Energy Hangtown Classic, can be seen at www.goprocamera.com/ourheros.

"Motocross is one of the most intense sports in the world," said Nicholas Woodman, founder and CEO of GoPro. "The speed, risk and athleticism is incredible. We're excited that MX Sports Pro Racing has chosen GoPro and our HD HERO wearable cameras to capture the intensity of the Lucas Oil Motocross Championship from the rider's perspective. You think these guys are quick and then you see if from their perspective and you realize...these guys are really quick!"

The GoPro HD HERO captures professional 1080p and 720p HD video with eye-popping clarity that is normally only seen from cameras costing considerably more. Used by professional athletes and cameramen alike, the HD HERO is now used regularly by production companies filming for the Discovery Channel, NBC and now the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship. While the resolution and clarity is impressive, the HD HERO's 60 frames per second performance in 720p allows for jaw-dropping slow motion HD video to capture the world class talent of the best riders on the planet.

Ideal for the demands of motocross, the HD HERO camera's durable polycarbonate housing protects the camera from anything the track can throw at it. Its compact size and minimal 5.9oz weight allows it to be worn on rider helmets without them even knowing it's there. GoPro cameras represent the ultimate in performance, durability and convenience; necessary requirements for a camera to be worn by athletes competing at the top level of the sport.

GoPro's incredible HD HERO camera retails for $299 and can be found at motorcycle accessory dealers nationwide or online at www.goprocamera.com

The Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship continues this weekend with the Rockstar Energy High Point National Presented by Centra Bank from High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, Pa., on Saturday, June 12. Gates drop at 1 p.m. EST.
