GREAT MUSIC AND MANY SPECIAL EVENTS PLANNED FOR THE WORLD DUCATI WEEK 20072007-06-14 08:00
A few days from the beginning of the world gathering that will light up the Romagnola seaside from June 28th to July 1st, many new and exciting activities are announced that will heat up the atmosphere of Misano: a lottery, a scavenger hunt, a charity auction, breathtaking track sessions and the best music.
The stage of the World Ducati Week, strategically set up in the heart of the paddock, will be the centre of Ducati's world gathering of motorcyclists, sparking the excitement and enthusiasm of all participants. With a variety of live bands on the stage every evening, music lovers will definitely have fun at this year's WDW! In addition to a stage and great music, there are tons of activities planned involving all participants over the four days, making it feel like a real city on the "Red Planet" of Ducati.
On the Riders for Health website (http://www.riders.org/en/auctions/), eleven rides with Randy Mamola are up for grabs on the two seat Ducati Desmosedici in Misano on Sunday, July 1st. The eleven highest bids over 500 euros will win the rides. The rides are guaranteed to thrill - Randy will be on a MotoGP bike capable of speeds up to 324 kilometres per hour with the lucky winners as passengers.
For everyone that dreams of owning a new Hypermotard 1100, this is a once in a lifetime lottery that must not be missed. It will be possible to win a brand new Hypermotard while at the same time helping people in need. Tickets can be purchased during the four days at the WDW 2007 for only five Euro each with the proceeds benefiting the activities of Riders for Health in Africa. The drawing will take place on Sunday during the closing ceremony in front of Ducati riders.
During the WDW 2007, there will be a scavenger hunt solving riddles and following clues...obviously all about Ducati! This adventure will take participants through the most famous places on the Romagnola seaside to discover little-known secrets of Ducati. Participants should form teams of two to four people (all must have 4 Day WDW passes) with at least one Ducati bike. There will be prizes for everyone with the members of the top three teams being awarded the grand prizes. To register, simply go to www.ducati.com.
Desmosedici RR on the Track
The world premiere of the long awaited Desmosedici RR will take place with official test rider Vittoriano Guareschi riding the bike on the track in Misano. With the focus on design and technology in the purest form, this bike will warrant the anxious looks of future owners of this joy which, for this occasion, have been invited by Ducati. The first laps on the official track for this dream bike could not be done in a better setting given that the at WDW 2004 in Misano, the "beating heart", or rather the highly evolved and technologically advanced 989 cc, four valves per cylinder, L-Four layout Desmosedici, was presented.
At WDW2007, it will be possible to acquire rare Ducati memorabilia representing the past and present of the company. During the course of this organized auction, which takes place at the Ducati University, there will be various old, unique Ducati pieces available for purchase. All proceeds will go to the Clinica Mobile and the Ducati Foundation.
Among the available items, the most unique and special piece will be the very first MH900evoluzione produced in 2000. Originally a concept bike conceived as a demonstration of state-of-the-art creativity and technology in 1998, the MH900evoluzione was constructed entirely by hand as a limited edition and brings to mind the glorious feat of Mike Hailwood.
Music on the Stage
Every evening, from Thursday to Saturday, the stage will be lit up by great bands and cover groups.
On Thursday, the Ducati Band, a cover band made up entirely of Ducati employees, will provide a variety of music and will be followed by the Bonomia Sound Machine, a famous band in the Bolognese musical scene.
The Lucchinelli Band which debuted at the Sanremo Music Festival, led by Marco Lucchinelli, the former MotoGP racer, will have a concert on Friday. After, there will be the T-jam band, one of the most spectacular and all-involving groups of the moment.
As a thank you to all of its passionate fans, Ducati has decided to host an unforgettable concert on Saturday evening: on the stage at 10:30 p.m., an exciting concert by the internationally famous rock star, Patti Smith, will begin. Born in 1946, Smith - considered by many to be the most influential woman in the history of rock - rose to fame with her album Horses in 1975, although one of her most famous songs, Because the Night, was written three years later with Bruce Springsteen. She has just released her twelfth album, Twelve, produced in collaboration with other famous artists such as Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and containing covers by songs by the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Dylan, Hendrix, Stevie Wonder and other famous rock and pop stars which Smith interpreted in her own personal and unique style.
On Sunday afternoon, the Calabrese group Monodia, which takes inspiration from much of the international rock from the '70s and '80s, will perform. This multi-talented ensemble of groups is capable of pleasing any audience, playing anything from relaxing classic to laid back soul to fast dance music.
The perfect time for all passionate motorcycle fans to be together is June 28th at the Misano World Circuit for the breathtaking WORLD DUCATI WEEK 2007. Participants will have the chance to meet the fastest riders in the world and experience the heated atmosphere of the Ducati universe with all Ducatisti celebrating together.
