Monster Energy Kawasaki Takes One and Two At Daytona2007-03-09 05:16Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Roger Hayden captured the win on the Kawasaki Ninja® ZX-6R in the AMA Supersport class at the Daytona Motor Speedway. Teammate Jamie Hacking put in an impressive ride, battling the entire 22 laps before eventually finishing in the second position. Hacking and Hayden were off to a great start, grasping the pole and second positions in their qualifying sessions. After a mediocre start, the pair were able to put some fast laps together and pull out front. Hacking took the early lead but Hayden quickly closed in and made the pass on lap four. He led the remainder of the race but received constant heat from Hacking, who was never able to overtake his teammate. "It's always hard to lead because you are setting the paced and breaking more wind," said Hayden. "That makes it easier for the guy in second to catch up. Also, the lappers come into play when you're first because they don't always move over." With a win in Daytona, Hayden will head into Saturday's AMA Superbike race with another front grid starting position and looks to continue his season-opening success. "I came into the last lap and made one little mistake over in the back section," said Hacking. "I kind of lost the rear of the motorcycle and it allowed Roger to have just enough of a gap on me that I couldn't run him down." Attack Kawasaki rider Ben Attard finished sixth after a charge from the ninth position. Teammate Steve Rapp finished just behind Attard in seventh.
