I switched to mobil 1 car oil (syn) at about 600 miles the 5-20. It's what I've used for years on the street and track

Same here. Before I used rotella synthetic and I had zero problems, only reason I switched was because the local auto parts stores had Mobil1 on special often. Now I just get it at Wal mart

Purolator Pure One..........the PL14610 is longer than the stock filter and holds a little bit more oil, a good thing, the PL14612 is about the same length as stock. Around $6.00 at Advance Auto. Absolutly a superior filter........

Yes, same one. And they also have them at Pep Boys.

It shouldn't. They were out when I went so stocked up on the 14612 - but it looks like there is enough clearance for the 610

Been using Rotella 15W40 for 4 years...Nearly 30,000 miles and zero issues...There's a fellow on another forum I go to that has a 2005 bandit 1200 (air cooled) and has over 120,000 miles on it using nothing but Rotella 15W40 and he's still on the original clutch and has never had any issues.

+ 1 on the pure one purolator filter ... That's all i have ever used on all 3 of my zx14s ... As far as oil i have been using Mobil One car oil 10w30 .. Never had a problem and it's not like i ride easy .. This last oil change i went with Amsoil 10w30 , made my quickest pass every with the Amsoil .. I can't say for sure the oil made me go faster but it sure didn't low it down any .. Only reason for the change to Amsoil is our shop is a dealer for Amsoil and i get it the same price as the Mobil One ..... And the fact am I'm lazy and it saved me a trip to Wally World for the Mobil One ..

FWIW, if your going to use an oil visc different from manufacturer recommendated, I'd use the much closer Rotella T 15w-40 or synthetic T6 5w-40. At least they are only a slightly diff weight from what kawi calls for vs any 5w-20 oil (which they dont list as a recommended oil viscosity.) Or any other brand oil in the proper visc that meets jaso ma specs (usually NON energy conserving.)

In the owners manual, depending on regional temps; weights are listed as 20w-50, 20w-40, 10w-50, 10w-40 (factory recommended), and 10w-30.

The 5-20 works fine in the car oil. clutch goes an easy 300 passes at the track then still looks fine just looses the stack height. owners manual don't recommend o weight either but Brock swears by it for track and street. Been running the 5-20 in a busa for 6000 miels and 2500 passes at the track. bike is still getting faster to this day.
