hi temps

2000 1270, runs high in temps in traffic since day one, installed a 2nd fan but had to put it on the front side of radiator due to clearance issues, I know the 02 came out wit dual fans so its obvious the bike has heat issues, I've ridden the bike like this for years just wanted to change it up for this summer, , I run engine ice and have the fan hooked up to come on manually wit hazard light switch n it also comes on automatically like normal, I did notice there's a black foam liner on the inside of side fairings, that's gotta hold alot of heat in there, has anyone removed this and did it help?I shouldn't/wouldn't want to pull thermostat

have you checked the rad cap? I would suggest a high pressure replacement. I usually ditch the foam pieces, not sure if it helps. what are the fins like on the rad?
how high does it get on the gauge?

In 80° or hotter here n beach traffic the bike will go to the H mark n even start going up n down, as soon as I move it cones down, on highway it doesn't go past halfway n even sits mark below halfway, our beach traffic is stand still traffic at times, no air moving at all, fins are kinda dinged up, sprayed radiator fins out n wasn't clogged up or dirty, water ran thru easily, would a failing charging system keep the fan from turning fast enough, but that still wouldn't explain it still starting I guess, I also have muzzy aluminum blade on fan, other than start n stop beach traffic temp is fine, radiator cap seems fine, no leaks if that's what ur referring to? Bike has never over flowed coolant, even when temp bars were flashing up/down

thx, txt back at ya
when i was pressure testing my cooling system, the oem rad cap (1.3 bar/18ish psi) would start bleeding off pressure(to the overflow tank, no leaks) at about 12. the spring was worn out/rubber compressed as far as i can tell, or the factory numbers are off. the new 1.6 bar outlaw cap actually held about 30 psi

Muzzy pipe right? is it coated, or wrapped?

yes im running a stock tstat

wrapping the pipe with a quality header wrap greatly reduces heat transfer to the rad and oil pan, pumping it out the exh where it belongs. im running some new stuff this yr, lava rock instead of fiberglass, found it on ebay.

so far so good. after it gets some heat the colour is way nicer than the regular white stuff that goes all yellow brown. 1 in wrap is nicer to work with for tight bends

I thought richen too much n it would work harder to burn it? Or does it just come out exhaust? I run a fairly rich map anyway, the 2nd fan I mounted is on the front side pulling, so maybe its hurting it by pulling air from header/motor n pulling it through radiator? I'll reverse wires n see if it helps, to add a 2nd fan on normal side on a 2000 is hard cause of the engine mounts

sounds like your fans are fighting each other. they should both be forcing the air from the front to the back
