Revisiting Oil FIlters - consolidating the list

Took the oil filter info from previous post http://www.bikeland.org/board/viewthread.php?FID=27&TID=48848&pagenumber=1 and consolidated it here:

Hi-Flo Filtro HF 303
Mobil 1 M1-108 and M1-110
K&N KN 303
K&N (automotive) is a hp -1008
Fram Ph6017A
Purolator L14612, is shorter than PL14610
Purolator PL14610, extended length, flows 7-9/9-11 gpm - conflicting info on flo in the posts
Ac Delco PF1237
WIX 51365
Hastings LF-113 short and LF- 240f is the longer version
Amsoil EAO 103
Napa Gold 1358
NAPA 1356, flows 9-11 gpm, which is the equivalant to the Purolator PL14610 flows 7-9 gpm (but if you type in "PS" before any of the NAPA numbers, you come up with the powersports series which in the case of the:
Purolator L14612
NAPA 1365/PS1365, same as the PL14610 except about .825" shorter
Fram 303 is the shortest for the ZX14 (wonder if the hi-Flo 303 is the same height?)

exactly.

I'm looking up what I can find on these filters for height and flo to 'finalize' the list.

********************

I saw this chart from http://74.125.155.132/search?q=cache:ukc-zs9DdmIJ:forums.maxima.org/fluids-lubricants/607090-vq35-oil-selection-post7407530.html+Mobile+1+M1-108+dimension&cd=4&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us I haven't been able to tracks it's origin yet. Maybe here http://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-drivetrain/258663-vq-oil-analysis-and-info-3.html

I saw this at http://74.125.155.132/search?q=cache:-pWVf_QqG28J:www.iwsti.com/forums/2-5-liter-litre-factory-motor/16252-sti-oil-filter-analysis-preliminary-data-dimensions-pics.html+Mobile+1+M1-108+dimension&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

"Each filter's diameters were measured and the filter was cut open and the internal diameters measured. Also took pictures of everything. In short - the best filter is the OEM filter in the standard replacement category. Use the OEM filter. It is, without a doubt, the best in construction and filter area/volume in the standard replacement filters. In second place is the PureONE. The OEM filter might be eclipsed by a filter in the oversized category but only time will tell. I need to start ripping apart the oversized filters. I have further comments in the Excel Spreadsheet. Click on the XLS file to view the excel spreadsheet with all the data. Go into the directories to view the pictures. The names of the directories correspond to the filters. I also have a compare directory. There are two sheets to the XLS file. The first sheet is the standard replacement filters. The second sheet is the oversized filters.

http://www.bescaredracing.com/sti/oil/filters/

IMHO, nothing comes close to the OEM filter in the standard replacement category. The standard PureONE (PL14612) was close in filter area ... but still lacked the overall bulletproof construction of the OEM casing and gasket. The oversized PL14610 PureONE has more filter area, but still lacks the bulletproof construction of the OEM filter. Now, with that said, if you want a filter you can pickup locally that is a kickass filter then the PL14610 is your friend. It's the best 'aftermarket' filter so far (I reserve the right to change this as time progresses and I test more filters). I was very disappointed with both the K&N and Mobil-1 filters. These filters only had like 1/2 of the filter area of the OEM. Rumor has it that the M1-110 is a longer version of the M1-108 and will yield better total area/volume. I'll put it on my list of filters to obtain."

I ran K&n forever.......

but, the amsoil filters are built way better......

Without cutting them open, you would not know much. I cut all my filters......

Ever seen a fram.......wow, nothing there.

Wix makes good filters actually, and amsoil recomends them

If you use Purolator stay with the ML 16817. The" pure one" does not have valving designed to operate within MC oil pump parameters. This info is from Purolator's web site.

PL14610 is a higher capacity filter and I have been using that filter since my bikes's 1st oil change.
Great filter
