tires???

Tires again!!! Ok, so I have been running the Pirelli Diablo Strada. I got 6,700 out of the one that I have now. I got 5K + or - out of the one before. The guy at the dealer says people are having good luck with the Dunlop Road Smarts and they are almost $20.00 each cheaper. I live in south Florida and the only curves I see are the on ramps to the interstate, I do run fast....a lot I just do it going straight. Anyone running the road smarts? I don't hate the Pirelli's I have had good luck with them but I am poor!!!

I made the mistake of getting a Dunlop Road Smart(current tire on back). I also live in central Florida, The back tire spins alot under hard excelleration. If you excellerate out of a curve or turn, it breaks as well. Do to experience in riding, I was able to correct with no negative consequences. I will never get that tire again! Save your money and ass!! IMHO. How did you like that Diablo? I hate to experiment with things like tires but man those Michelin power pilot 2ct burns up really quick! I've been trying to get that perfect tire that gives longevity but awesome grip. Oh for the front, I only use Michelin power pilot 2ct. It seems to last a long time in the front.

The Dunlop Road Smart is an excellent touring tire in all weather conditions. It basically depends on your riding style. If you enjoy riding fastish and travelling long distances then the road smart is great but obviously if you're into thrashing the bike and riding it to its limit then a hypersport tyre would be more appropriate.

Words of a wise man ! I agree stick with what works . I tried a different tire to get more tire life and but had the cost of less stick. Resulting in my crash last year on june 15th.

I thought the stradas were a touring tire still way stickier that the stockers ,but for awesome grip with pirelli's I'd go with the diablo streets or diablo corsa's

My vote goes for Michelin Pilot Powers 2CT or Pirelli Diablo Corsa III.
Both are dual compound that will get you good mileage out of the rear and really sticky when leaned. I have the PP 2CT on the 14 and the Corsas on the 750.

So if YOU buy the wrong ass tire...who's fault is that? The tire manufacturer? ALL tires are worn out on the 14 in a season...try them all sooner or later

I dont buy the sport tires with the rain groove that goes all the way to the edge . I feel it would couse about a 5% lose of traction on a full lean.

I have tried the stockers, they sucked! I tried Pirelli Diablo Corsa III, I lived in the mountains when I tried that one. LOVED IT. I like the Strada, I have had 2 of those, it is a touring tire but I have never had it slip unless there was sand in the curve, this is florida, there is sand every where. I am just looking for a high quality yet affordable tire. As for the 20.00 that is 2 weeks worth of lunch you know, not a lot to most of you but like I said I am broke! The economy has taken its toll on me....This bike is my primary transportation, I don't even own a vehicle. So it is the ZX-14 bike or the Trek bike.

Well with that said , beware of the dunlops , they wear faster than the stradas!

That is good information. Kind of like when you go to the grocery store and they have the price per oz on the tags, that is what I want price per mile while still being safe. I don't trust Shinko's but they sure are cheap

I heard that man! Now the shinkos are cheap and nice and sticky.
I haven't heard feedback on what kind of mileage to expect from them cause people use them primarily for drag racing.

Don't trust shinkos??? Wtf? Why do you "not trust them"? They are a sticky tire and is affordable.. You don't get 8000 miles out of them but your only paying $120 shipped for a rear tire. They don't have the curve that a 2ct has, so there not made for canyon carving.

I'd run shinkos but I'm sticking with what works for me. I'm out of the tire testing game for awhile lol!

I think the roadsmarts are EXCELLENT tires. I had mine in full lean coming out of corners at WOT in 2nd gear. You do NOT need a stickier tire for the street. Plus they have excellent wet weather characteristics, and they wear like iron in the middle. IMHO there is no better tire for the street.
