If your going through Nashville on I-40, you better stop by in Little Rock. Even if it's just for a few minutes. I'm sure we can talk Jonathan to take us out to eat. That is if we can break him away from his newborn son.

sound like a plan Sherm, would love to see you guys for sure, I will be going through, between Christmas and New year. Cant set solid dates yet as I am not sure when i will be home.

Matt, soon as you want I will do a track day with you in Demming, I love that track, its short and tight though, would be work hussleing a big bike around it. My buddy rode his Bus out there and was putting in respectable times, until he ground the case cover through.....lol

Will prolly bring the 10R over to Tuscon when I first get home to have them set the suspension up on it, think I am going to go with a Ohlins rear, and some race tech goodies in the forks...we will see...

Brett not sure If I am going to make it down to Nashville this time around, but in the spring I will for sure. Hope fully we can do some miles in North GA when I get over that way, and do a DG Rally...would be nice...

I'm doing Firebird west on Nov 10th, and Arroyo on Dec 9th, should be good times.

Short and tight works great on the DR-Z... among other places, heh

Jim, let me know when you're gonna hit up Tucson, maybe I can steal away some time and we can do lunch or dinner.

Rick, Oli said eat a fat dick, ay!! :

Sounds good Brian, I should be back home mid december, not in time for that trackday, but will prolly be around the track in the january dates, even if I am not riding...course, cant see me going to the track, and not riding,....lol

Arroyo Seco is a nice track...its tight, the only other track I have ridden that is even close to it is the infield at Nashville when I did a track day there with Ed Bargys school...

Will prolly take the bike up to Tuscon the middle of December, and pick it up when I get off leave in January for the trackday...will have lots of chasis stuff to do before the season kicks off in March.

STFU Jim........

What's going on brother? Just thought I come over here and see what you chuckleheads are up to. I did no DG ride this year, and I don't even want to think of how many years it has been since I haven't done at least one gap trip. Hopefully next year some of us guys can organize something.

Glad you are doing good Jim. We definitely need to get something hooked up next year for sure. Other than my track days in April, I ain't rode much at all. A fuckin' shame is all I can say. The good news is that I have done quite a bit of dirt riding with my son this year, and that has been a blast!!!

After we get the Holidays out of the way, all of us Old School DG'ers need to kick around some dates.

Sherm, What about it??? You racin' next year? I know that faggot from Lake City will make it, no matter when or where, he'll more than likely be there. Chris is an unknown at this point because he crashed his 10R and is without a bike at the present. Roger, Dave, Scooter, and any of the rest of the crew can be reached fairly easy.

All I can say for certain is that I don't think I can do a September gig next year. If all goes well I am going to Indy to see the MotoGp boys that month.

I am going to try to make Laguna but I doubt I will make the Indy GP.

I should be able to get some time off for a rally, its just a pain in the ass to drive from El Paso to the gap....lol

that sucks I hadnt heard Chris wrecked his 10, that really blows. I am eyeballing a 05 636 to use as a track bike so I can use the 10 strictly for the street. I need to hit him up about it, I see he just posted it in the classifieds on another site, I aught to check and see if he has listed it here.

What about it Sherm? Jon? anyone else?

I went to the gap and offered on several of our forums and came to the conclusion most ffolks on bikeland just CHAT on the Internet about riding! (joking).

Anyway, I just got back from the gap, here are pics and my take on the place this past ride....

The ZX14 and I had a great time at Deal's Gap. Unlike many told me, we had NO trouble with cops and we blistered the dragon more times than I can count. Also hit Cheroholla Skyway that GUNNER suggested. I held a pace with the locals that new the roads and they were baffled my ZX14 could keep up. I let them know I could get more corner speed from a smaller bike but the ZX14 has no probs in the turns. Two of the folks rode crotch rockets 18 hours from Long island, NY

After the tourist stuff above I went and rode twisties were I once lived around Hickory, Wilkesboro, Jefferson, Blowing Rock, etc. Wanted to make it to Mt Airy and places in Allegheny Co. but no time.

The point of the trip wasn't to take pics but we snapped a few and I thought I'd share.

Pics:

Unloaded at a spot I could see the stuff from my 2nd floor hotel room (and slept with window open!)

I rode a lift while playing tourist and waiting on others

The group at one point - (we met and changed folks several times along the way)

Extremely twisty roads and beauty combined, oh my !!!!

Curves? I couldn't get the bike lower, I didn't have my knee pucks/leathers (more "ride" pics when photographer gets them to me).

Us at dragon

Me and Lisa the Gixxer chick

Lisa and I at the tree of shame

Lisa

The trip was ALL about the ride but we did take breaks

Paula and I

Us bored outside waiting to eat at "No Way Jose" Mexican place

Great food and the beer/tequila was flowing, couldn't have been as good as my large coffee in a to go cup! This Floridian was freezing the whole trip, usual temp was 67 degrees, 35 at night

***Next pics I went solo to another part of NC and road extreme twisties.***

I arrived late at night in Hickory NC and the nice lady lets me leave my stuff guarded right in front of hotel! Little southern hospitality going on

Solo was a great idea, and how could one not miss living in NC? This is a extreme twisty road going down the mountain outside Wilkesboro

Oh at one point of my trips i wanted to test the governments elevation accuracy

As I suspected, government is WRONG J, GPS says 5400 feet, with 12 foot error margin

What a place to have lived. This is outside Hickory NC

I missed the taste of the NC spring water and just walking over and grabbing a handful... and its COLD water!

More water

GSP can get me home, but planning routes required a map

Alone with the bike between Jefferson and Wilkesboro

Before heading back to town and trailering the bike for FL

Ah...not really. I live in Nash. TN. I just go to north GA (285 miles) twice a month for buisness and of course I have to bring the bike to have fun on. I also ride all the way down there a few times a year. I gave up on deals gap this year. The roads in N GA are just as good if not better. Dales in Suches GA is now "marketing" there "do the loop" campain for hwy's 180 and 60. I give it a couple years before the "crowds" fuck it up for all of us down there too. If at all possible I try and avoid "trouble" areas. Another area of TN that is pretty cool still is the "witches knucle" run around brushy mountain state prison near Oak Ridge. Tri-cities is nice too.

Yea sounds good, I will try and post as often as I can and see if we can hook up.

hey Brett, Rogers bike looks great......as usual you did a fantastic job with it. I may have some work for you this spring when I get home, I wanna get rid of a ding in the tank of the nomad, its very tiny, but you know me.

I will definately be looking for a trip to GA in 08. Not sure when though. I agree , I dont care for the GAP, would love to drag the sanackhouse guyus around GA for a few days, they would be in love, and would forget about the GAP after that.

Dam I cant get over Rogers bike dude, that is sweet.

Steve, everything looks better GREEN.....lol Ad I will be making the trip from El Paso TX.....talk about a drive..

Okay... that gives us till Feb. to make Mark leave those damn golf clubs in the closet (where they belong anyway) and buy a new bike. He's probably gettin' too used to holding "long clubs" in his hands... if ya know what I mean.

Racin'? What's that? Naw... like all good things, you can say that BMR has "run it's course" for the last time. There was just three of the original team members left after the end of the '06 season. Jonathan, Pierson and me.

Jonathan got married, sold his R6 race bike and only went to a track once in '07... as a "pit bitch". He still occasionally races his KTM in enduros and hare scrambles, but with the recent birth of his son, he's admitted that road racing and street riding days on are indefinite hold.

Pierson has gone to a few races in '07, but work (job change in '06), kids and the wife have pretty well put his "racing career" in the "paddock" for now.

Because of my work, I went to one race in '07 and only put about 3K miles on my "baby" this riding season. It's not quite over yet, but I doubt if I do much more then another 1k before it starts getting to cold.

The reality of BMR coming to an end hit home yesterday, when Jonathan mentioned us considering selling the 24' race trailer and dissolving the LLC. If we do, I might try to sell my 5x10 Wells Cargo as well and look for a 6x12 or 6x14 with lights, cabinets and maybe a rooftop A/C. I'd like to have something that could hold all my stuff and I could sleep in it if I want. We've just about paid off the loan on the race trailer and I could buy real cheap, it's really too big for just my personal use. Not to mention the fact that MPG sucks towing it with my '03 Dodge Hemi.

Even though it will be our "political season" at work in '08, I still should have enough free time to take a week off in May. So lets try to put something together in Feb. (no later than March) so everybody will have enough time to get their shit together.

We might have to get Melissa involved if we want to get it planned right and get everybody to show up.

******************************************************

Jim, though I think EVERYDAY should be Veterans' Day, thank you and all of those that serve our country. Jonathan did say that he was on for taking us out to eat when you pass through Little Rock.

thanks for remembering Sherm.

I am down with a trip in May, just let me know when. We can maybe set up a carpool or something. I can put mine in the truck, then hook up with Sherm and Rick and we can load their bikes in trailers, can even swing through and pick up Brett and Roger....

Mark, hope you and Mel are doing great bro, I will hit you up once I get back in the states, I have lots of catching up to do with my brothes.....

Brett I am with you, I recommend a change of pace for the DG rally, I say we move it and hour south to Suches and ride around there, less congested, less cops, and better roads.....and more of them...between you and I, and Roger, and a few others we could drag people around north GA and have a dam fine time, and can prolly get a really good rate at Skeenah at the campground there, for a group.

Good to hear from you Mark, thanks it came out good (Rog's bike). Hope Mellisa and Abby are well. I will try and get out there next year. Planning a trip up the blue ridge with Karen. It is close to there i think (Charlotte). I am setting my 11 up for sport touring.

Yea I hear ya Jim, I am going again next weekend after thanksgiving. I dont think i will ever get tired of that place. I would rather get the campground at Lake Burton. Dont get me wrong Skeenah is just as nice. If we get together we would have a lot of fun thats for sure!

On these points-

+1 Notice above my better pics were NOT at the gap, but were in the mountains of NC, I agree with you against the gap. But as far as the social event part of the trip and my first pics, we were at the gap because thats where most of those folks wanted to meet. I've heard a lot about the N GA roads but haven't had an opportunity to ride them.

I agree my R1 would look better if it was green, but YAMAHA doesn't offer that color :P

Wow @ making the trip from El Paso!

I hope to shake hands and torture some twisties somewhere someday with you all!!!
