Glad to see someone buy the big 1200. I'm looking into trading 2 VFR's for 1 in the next month. I've thought about the 1200 but with a gallon less in the tank and 35 mpg I think I'll stick with a left over 2009/08 800. I prefer a 2009 just always had a soft spot for black. If I go for the 08 I will ask if I can trade my 07 skin for the 08, seriously I really don't know what color the 2008 is.

2002 VFR 120,602 miles
2007 VFR RWB 11,702 miles
2007 Burg 50,820 miles

I like the 07 and tried to buy one in 08 but, they told me "Fuck you, we are not selling it that cheap!" and I bought my Blackbird instead.
Two years later I spent way too much money on the VFRF but, it's 30mpg not 35 and 135 mile range is still good enough for me.

Still you own one beautiful bike. One other question, are there any heating issues?

So far the bike is very comfortable to ride when it is warm unlike my Blackbird that I cannot ride when it is above 85º because the engine heat would cook my legs and sweat me out to the point of dehydration.

Tomorrow will be my longest ride yet.
I'm thinking I will be filling up the tank at least 2 times tomorrow because she gets such shitty gas mileage and has such a small tank, 4.8 gallons is too small.
So far she has only gotten 30mpg and I am riding the bike easy during break in. I can't imagine if I got frisky with her how quickly the tank will empty.
She has almost 300 miles on her so far and I want to hit that magic 600 mile mark and start her on Amsoil this week coming up.

I think the fuel mileage will increase as the motor breaks in.
My 14 sucked literally when it came to fuel consumption when she was new.
38 mpg was the highest it would go and that was at 65-70 mph.
After she broke in and got full synthetic and she got a bitchin' exhaust she has been around the 50 mpg at 80 mph.
The fuel mileage has been high since she was about 5000 miles old.
My dads blue 14 doesn't get that good a gas mileage but she got a lot better at around 30k miles. She gets about 42 mpg at best.
Now when riding spirited both bikes mpg suck!

Geez that's bad man lol! But I bet it is a lot of fun and worth it.
The only time mine will get shitty mileage like that is when I'm scraping my fairings. And I don't do that no more cause they are painted and not flat black like they were when she was stock

Or there is the California speedway.
Either way it is an experience that should be done at least once for the diehard motorcyclist.

I am buying a headlight modulator for my VFRF, they work.
I had one on my Blackbird and I have one on my CBX, so I will have a modulator on my VFRF too.

Honda did not give the VFR1200F a centerstand, you have to buy it after the fact from Honhda.
List price $250.00, glad I only paid $200.00

Looks are deceiving and that is two different levels to, the garage floor sits a half inch higher than the driveway.

614 miles and she got her 1st oil change switching from dino oil to Amsoil today.
Having a center stand made that possible in my garage instead of a shop.

No I did not.
I asked if the oil has to be changed at exactly 600 miles or does a few miles give or take make a difference and they said, no it does nto make a difference.
I could have changed the oil before I went to Little T but, I would have wasted 47 miles worth of oil.
I just could not let that happen.
Now she has 3.1 quarts of Amsoil 20w50 synthetic motorcycle oil and a .05 micron Amsoil filter. As long as this is my motorcycle, she will live on Amsoil.
This V-4 engine does not hold very much oil at all, I had opened the 4th quart like I always do and did not really need it.

Most stealerships including the one we over got our 14's from say you void the warranty if you don't bring it to them for the 600 mile service. Total BS of course.

I have an account at NoHo Honda and I am treated fairly well there.
They also know that I am a Honda mechanic and I attended Hontech at MMI but, I will never work for a dealer again after workinhg for Leon the scumbag at Burbank Kawasaki.
My time being employed as the service manager at Burbank Kawi showed me a side of business I don't want anything to do with.

The fuel economy should improve a lot. A longer term test over 16,000kms in Australia was able to get up to 20km/lt in hot weather at 120kph speeds, I think the V4 motor needs time to bed in, so may be a good sign long term. VFR12s have been sold for a month or 2 now down here so more real life experinces will emerge. Have to test ride the local demo bike real soon

The center stand was silly priced but, the rack was stupidly priced and I bought one ayway.

Today I ordered a rear tire hugger from Honda part # 08F63-MGE-100 lists for $150.00 and my price is $108.00 which aint too bad but, it is still too much for a tiny little fender.
