Brooks R-6

There a gal at the strip with an R-6. She's running 11.20 @ 123 mph. Is that normal for a little 600cc? She weighs about 100lbs.

sounds like you live in utah. i'm guessing this is at RMR? almost nobody in utah is fast. its good compared to local riders. but nothing special. especially if its the black r6 with purplish pink rims thats lowered front and rear along with some gearing.

also, are you the guy that owns the bike that nick steuri races on?

Yes, the run was 90 degrees OAT, high altitude, Pete, Nicks father. turned a 6.89 at 189 mph on an old two valve Kawi. When Brook made that run the density altitude was 8,000 ft. At sea level it should have been much quicker. High altitude makes everything slow and add high temp, ouch!.

yeah, temp sucks at rmr. one weekend my buddies bike was reading 130 ambient temp in the staging lanes. add that to the altitude and you can kiss your mph goodbye, if you even make it to the end without cramping up.

Her best time was 11.15 @ 125 mph strapped. She has real talent with just pipe and sticky tires; They're are bigger bikes with little chance of catching her. Surprised she hasn't go off the be a bike jock for the rags,

yeah, its funny that there are maybe a half dozen big bikes there that can beat her, the rest just get a view of the tail lights. now i just need to pull out another tenth so i can be the quickest on a 6.

would be interesting to see how she would do on a literbike.

If she is on the 14 it would be like it didn't have a rider. she has talent. And also a wise business gal. The bike that can beat her are drag bikes.

People just don't realize what high altitude and hot does. She spanked the Busa Gen 1. The Kawk guys and the Harley guys will get him into the low tens. After all we are all brothers and sisters. Turbo Brook's R-6...........first thought,................ hell no, that will put all the aspirated drag bikes on the trailer, second thought, why not if she want's. Her scoot is always a bike without rider

what would you consider a good time for a stock wheelbase, stock dispacement, non-turbo, open class streetbike at rmr?

Anything in the 11's, sometime the corrected altitude can reach 10,000 ft. and the track temp well over 100 degrees. You don't race at RMR expecting to make the magazine times. Have seen a lot of disappointed first timers expecting 9's and seeing the 12's.

Lowering helps, especially on something that wants to wheelie. Our gain so far has only been a couple tenths. Traded wheelies for wheel spin with the extension. Thanks to Shinko now clutch slip, burned that puppy to a crisp.

then it sounds like i might be able to get a couple of high ten second passes on my bike. im hoping to have the billet basket in my august 7th race. my friend already blew up two stock baskets here in slc so i figured i would wait it out and err on the side of safety rather than scooping clutch parts out of the oilpan.

why 636? cuz the 12r stickers scared everyone away.

looks like it was a good idea to wait. original basket was cracked and ready to fall apart.
