MODDED ZX14 vs BMW 1000RR

Ok guys. My 2008 ZX14 has the following:

Racing exhaust
PCIII w/Custom map
Flies out
4 Degee timing advanced.
Stock air filter
Velocity Stacks
17/43 sprockets
150 LB rider
My last dyno at Steadman's Motorsports was 187/109. 5/2010.

BMW 100RR STOCK 170 lb rider

2nd gear roll on the 14 jumps out 3-4 bikes, once the BMW goes by 10,000 rpm,
it is pretty much over and he makes up the 4 bikes and easily pulls by me at the
top of 4th gear. 5-6 bikes....e-a-s-y-

3rd gear roll on, 14 jumps out again, the BMW just needs time to gain revs to get
in the power band and comes on by my 14.

It is just a fact. If you give the BMW a chance to get past 10,000 rpm when racing
a roll on your pretty much done.

You guys can bitch and moan if you want, That bike is FAST AS HELL.....STOCK!

Hmmm...I don't have a problem with it at all. That Beemer is tweeked out and smokin' big time. I think Kawi and Suzi were perfectly content to just let the 14 and 'busa be essentially equal, and let all the minions squabble about who is best. I hope both companies are upset about it and throw down soon!

Now that i look at ur first post again, ur bike does suck!!!!!!!!!!!!! N like shane is sayin, if ur 14 is geared lower than stock then of course he going to go by u in the higher speeds, at 150lbs i would think not to many would go by u period in a rollon, little fella, lol, Also maybe if u lose that stock filter he might not pass u, ;-)

Also, btw, that is not the only 1000 that will pass a 14 running on stock gearing. The bikes are light and they spin up very fast. The 14 is very heavy (well, most are).

I believe it ... I said before that it would win in a roll on race once it got into it power band .. But the last time i looked roll on racing isn't a class at any drag strip ...
Now guys if you what to jump ship and get a BMW fine please do so .. It a great liter bike with a double ton of hp and light weight trick parts ..
Now if you want to blow the body work off that BMW with your zx14 all you need to do is spend a little bit of cash ...375.00 bucks mill your head and clean up the bowls , deg your cams 104 106 and see a gain of 13 HP at peak and 15 HP at the limiter ..

I am sorry, I had just changed to a 17 front with a 43 rear sprocket.

My BAD INFO!

The zx12r wheel was direct bolt on. no problems. yes it is lighter.

Smoking14 I think knows who owns the BMW....his name is Chip, lives in middle Tennessee.

You know him?

Smokin,

Where are Jim and Matt located? What is there contact information? $375 sounds like a great price to me...if they aren't too far away.

Thanks,

This is Jim's shop. He's a site sponsor and a great guy. I yakked his ear off for 30 minutes last week and he was happy to answer any and all questions. Just know that you'll be increasing compression to about 13.25:1. You'll need to be more careful about the fuel you put in your bike.

How much would it cost for a shop to take the heads off? And gilberjj do you mean you have to run 93 octane all the time?

Yes. As your compression increases, your bike will demand both higher quality and octane fuel. That being said, 13.25:1 really isn't that high. You would be fine with 93 pump.

Smokin I like the extra hp also you say mill the head how much? Clean up the bowls? You mean some porting or deburring the ports? Sorry can't give you any biz unless by mail but curious how this would work out for street riding.
