@260 I'm sure you'll hear many tell u that the shock is a must, n revalving a stock shock isn't even an option for u, I would start of -2 in front, +3 in back, only cause of ur weight, n since you'll need a new shock anyway I would go 10" , bit that's just my opinion, I'm still waiting for a clean pass on a Gen 1, @ 221 suited n 65-66" I'm already killing my shock lol

shock using the stock shock .. You really should get a drag shock set up for your weight and how long the bike is ... But 200 pounds you can still use your stock spring .. turn both adjusters all the way in and then back them out a 1/4 of a turn .. It will work but is not the best setup . Busa spring ... Hummmmm not a good idea , while it will help lift the bike up you still have a valving problem with the stock shock ..But putting a busa spring on a zx14 stock you are making the valving even weaker ... A Adams straight link would help with the stock shock by making it think the bike is shorter and that will let you find an adustment that will workhope with your weight .. Now with all that said the right thing to do is get a drag shock set for your weight and wheel base .. There is no getting around it if you want to get the very best 60 footers and down track traction buy a drag shock.. A good drag shock has 100s of adjustments to help you dail in your bike .. Stock or revalved shocks DON'T ... If you send your out your stock shock for a revalve and spring you might get something that works and you may not ...Re: Suspension Tuning For Drag Racing
This is info that I get/read, hope it helps, n I hope I didn't violate by copying n pasting from another site, but since a lot of the true helpers have abandoned the sight info that YOU might need/want is not available

I was asked my best year to date lol, that was my first ever outing on the 14, no shame in it, my guess was since I said that the stock shock was maxed out per my weight it was assumed I was referring to a personal low it/60' but it was only in reference to what I weigh n observing that others said at 200# was around the limit of a stick shock. Then I posted my fastest,i know why they were slow but I just answered his question of my fastest to date, hopefully Sunday I won't have traction issues n can show a big improvement with time slips, but it all started by trying to give an answer to topic starter some info that I have found/read on the forums,

If the track doesn't hook, there's no accurate info on the time slip. Nothing to compare. No consistency.
At my heaviest of 211 not suited, I still cut 1.35's with stock shock. It wasn't everyday, but it happened. The revalved shock just kept the bike at a lower consistent 1.36-1.38's
Dean, I'm only 45 lbs lighter than you.
We have a guy here (Don Rogers) that is probably your weight. He runs. 5.7's

Im 200 lbs swb i went 6.17 extedned 5 in went 5.9 , what worked best for me was 16-42 i have a drag shock and outher bike stock all way in turned 1/4 out , make sure u get a good tire or will spin like hell . Tune it to run and gook at around 17 pr more psi in tire more psi more mph . Oil chain nice and strap front down . But u can use front strap to hook or to spin .
