What Bike should I buy???

Guys-

I have about $9,000 to spend on replacing my old bike. I'm torn between the 06-11 zx14 and 08-11 Hayabusa. I like the zx14 more but I'm concerned about resale value when I look to upgrade in a few years. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Most people here are going to suggest the 14. I have had both...and both are excellent. Since motorcycles are a passion, pick the one you love.

I prefer the 14, but the Busa is also a fantastic bike. In fact, if I had bought the black Busa instead of the white one, I may still have it today. Fortunately, I was able to turn the white Busa into a black 14R for $10 more a month.

If you're leaning towards either one....get the one you are leaning towards. The Busa's a fine bike. The 14 (at least mine anyway)always seemed a tad tall while riding..IDK why that is actually...but it felt like that.My buddy's 08 Busa didn't feel like that...even though...they both are the same height(I think).Ergos I guess....

Well...funny thing about ergos...the BUSA is actually seat height wise....taller!Not by much,but taller.Whoda thought???LOL!!!

Buy the one you like, I've never owned a Busa, so I can't compare them, I've owned 3 ZX14's still own 2 of them, they all been excellent bikes no problems with any of them. I went with the 14's because my local Suzuki shop is the H-D shop as well and they don't care about the drag racing world, the Kawasaki shop here supports the drag racing world.

since they have a new 14r any old 14 will have no resale value at all in a few years so I would go with the busa because it does not have a new model yet thats if your concerned with resale.

At the same time your can get more for your money with a 14 than you can with a Busa, on the used market. So, it is a double-edged sword in that regard.

What do you think is going to happen to the Busa in a few years when they come out with a bigger one?

Get whatever you want to ride!
First off I think your a fool for asking a question like that on a zx14 website. Second, if you done any research you would realize they are very close in just about everything, except looks.

And what you can do (yourself) with the ecu. the 14 is still behind in that. first gen 14 or gen 2 busa, it would be an easy pick for me, just saying.

Get whichever one fits you the best, comfort and appeal. I've never liked the busa looks that much, but I loved the zx9+12, and most ninja's in general. never considered a busa after hearing about the new 14r. Otherwise, I MIGHT have bought a gsxr 750. still no busa, but a good all around machine.

as for resale, I wouldn't even take that into account. most likely your gonna take a hit on that, whatever you ride. So, as stated before; buy what your passionate about. Thats what matters. Do you walk out and think, I'm about to get a ride on the love of my life, lol. ok, maybe not to that extent, but whichever one gives you that fizzy-james may feeling in your privates. If you dont watch top-gear, you might not get that one either.

Which one appeals to your senses? Skip the resale and buy a used 14. You can find really sweet deals right now with people wanting to part ways with their ride to purchase a 14R.

If resale is an issue, buy used. You can pic up a nice used 14 & used Busa for the cost of a new bike.

It's the Ford vs. Chevy thing.

Both can be made to go fast. The Ford is going to take more effort and money. The Chevy... Well, just open any hot rod catalog. Waaay more stuff.

If you're looking for a street bike, buy the Kawasaki. Smoother, more comfy and more refined and way more motorcycle than most folks have talent.

If you want to build a race bike, buy the Suzuki. Lots more stuff available.

no comparison

:look, Busas are slower, so if you are looking for this TYPE of bike, you want the FASTEST.
Right?
Not the fastest in the corners, the fastest out, or the quickest to stop, (althyough the ZX does this best too. Nop - you want to stop at a light and basically blow anything next to you away. This is what the ZX-14 is all about. Nothing else.
Secondly, look at the bike builder's mentality in their creative process, how Kawas vs. Suzukis, are initially designed, etc.
NINJA in any class, is about NO FRELLING COMPROMISE in speed.

Seen the recent ads on the ZX-14Rs? Get a clue,
no, there is no comparison.

Btw, I happen to have the coolest ZX-14 for sale at @ your price. Make sense here, the one I have is too fast for me, honestly!

either bike for the best price is the best deal!
buyiong used make sure you chose the one with the best previous owner...
buy the bike best cared for with the best price.

Things to consider?

Mileage
general condition
damage
Oil change intervals
tire wear / type
chain and sproket wear
brake pad wear
pipe? power commander?
aftermarket parts that appeal to you

I personally think the 14 is most comfortable, cushy, and has the best brakes
but the busa is the sportier ergos and better passenger accomodations, stiffer valving springs

allot can be said about an owner habits by the condition of their cars , and home as well....

Mileage over condition? really..... I'd always take the better bike
over lower miles

Big guys fit better on ZXs over busas
busas look like Jap Macrame Reindeer Godzilla gene pool

no, buy the worst bike for the highest price.
As if ANY Busa or ZX hasn't been thrashed...
"yeah, owned by an old pasadena grandma, hardly ever driven, never in rain, always garaged..."
definitely check service, yes
but in this market cash is king.
And no, not car sales, I'm a fake parking attendant.
How else could I get my ninja, duh....
