Shock Interchangeability
Have a 2009 ZX14 and would like to broaden my search for a deal on an Ohlins Rear Shock.
Can a shock from another model bike be fitted withOUT having to do extensive modifications ie looking for a bolt on application??
Maybe a ZX10R or?????
Does anyone happen to know what will work??
Thank you

A hell of a deal on an ohlins shock. Have you seen their price for the 14?

My Ohlins rear shock was $1000. Purchased for my 2007 14 but it swapped nicely to the 2012.

Brocks web site for the ohlins shock is like 1980.00, but it works great!

Wee,
Looking for an Ohlins for the ZX14--BUT--like other members have said--VERY EXPENSIVE.
Hopeful that another bike's shock (for example zx10R) will/could fit and that would allow me to broaden the search for a good used one perhaps.
All sources--E-Bay included---only seem to have NEW ZX14 shocks and at $1000+ I need to find a used one--can't afford a used one.
I had a line on a used one but for reasons UNknown it didn't pan out so still looking.
ANYone have one for sale?
OR
Know what other bikes can intechange to allow me to be on the lookout??
THank you

Search for other options that might go well with ur set up and not really $1k +, unless ur really stuck with the ohlins (who doesnt love that gold) but have u heard about JRI, they make custom shocks with a bunch of different options especially for ur needs and they are in the $700 -$800 range...if im not mistaken the prostock bike that went 6.99 have those

Consider other options, outside of the Ohlins. Way overpriced for most of us, imo....and without good reason, for most of us.

Bently what is the revalve shock.? That what i was talking about in my earleir post. A guy with a pretty sport ZX14 her locally swears by them. Say it has made his bike able to hook up on almost any surface

I don't know where your looking but the Ohlins rear shocks for most bikes are $900-$1100! Usually it's approx $3000 for a full set up...a grand per piece two up front one in rear!

Traxxon Dynamics has some very nice suspension options including custom rebuilds. I will likely have them do my forks over the winter!

Great suggestions but still looking for the answer to my question.
"Can a shock from another model bike be fitted withOUT having to do extensive modifications ie looking for a bolt on application??"
Does anyone happen to know what will work??
With this information I am hopeful of being able to source an Ohlins shock from another model and use IT on the ZX14.

That i found i might be wrong, but 04-06 zx10, 05 zx12, 05-06 zx6....all these are smaller bikes though just because its an ohlins it doesnt really means it would work... I assume the internals and the weight of the spring would be way off
