Tried to buy local wierd experience...

My buddy and I rode 2 hours across the state to visit a local (as in Michigan) motorcycle aftermarket parts and accessories store. They have a huge web site and have store (brick and mortar) hours so we figured we would stop in for an opportunity to look at cool stuff for our bikes. My buddy is rides a BMW S1000RR and I'm on my 14R of course. Both of us have Brock's exhaust.

So as it turns out their store front is 90% warehouse and only 10% showroom and they don't stock anything for the 14R (or any 14) and very little for the BMW. The guy tells me they are mainly set up for e-commerce and that the "14's are not that popular". OK fine. Then another guys comes out of an office and says... "You spent all that money on a S1000RR and put a Brocks exhaust on it?!" My friend and I just looked at each other like who the fuck is this guy. So I asked him what exhaust should he have put on it? He says "an Akrapovic". I just laughed and said I beg to differ. We got into a short discussion on HP/Mapping etc but I cut it short as I don't like arguing with the mis-informed.

So long story short even this local store is mainly drop-ship on most of their "inventory". I'm not throwing them under the bus as I have ordered things from them online and it's always on time and correct so they are doing that right! Just thought I would share.

I agree. For 17 years I worked in the service dept. with a few dealerships. Most sales people, unless they ride or race themselves, they are usually clueless. All they care is how much profit they can make off of one customer.
