ZX14 Goodies

Well next week I think I may be picking up a 2012 zx14r. I have a few performance question. I will be going with the alien head 2 pipe. I am a little unsure of what fuel management system to go with. I think I will use a PC V but I have been hearing about a bazzaz box.

Also do the new zx14r have the secondary butterflies in them like the previously models. If so is there a big difference in the performance in having them removed or leaving them installed like in the earlier models. I remember removing mine immediately woke my 2006 zx14 up and gave it great throttle response.

Also are their any other goodies i should look into. I have been away form the bike game for about 3 years and a lot has changed

Brock has a clutch mod for the 14R. Check out Brock's website and do a search here on this forum. Several of the folks have used the mod and have had great results. Good luck and I am envious of anyone getting a new 14R.

Clutch mod works great .. If you are not drag racing don't worry about it .. If you are just street riding the slipper clutch works great as is ... All the clutch mod does is remove the slipper and gives you a kit with shims and springs to set up your clutch for your needs or clutch feel for drag racing .. I drag race and it has been very helpfull for me ..

I should add , if drag racing or LSR you should get the Guhl / Brocks ECU reflash .. It takes out the top speed limiter and raises the red line 500 RPMs ... It also adds a tiny bit of timing to the hole map that will give you a few HP all the way across the power band .. This reflash work in combo with Brocks street and race maps ..

Do the American 14R's have the same type of immobiliser as the European bikes and does an ECU reflash affect it at all?

Might be worth speaking to these guys, Bob.

Don't know how far they've got with the 14 but worth a phone call.
