This isn't my bike, I told him do do springs but he is a Jew bag and a cheap ass lol. So no springs are on this bike. This was my buddy's 14 we are gonna run em tonight than next week when the track is open. My bike always had about 1-1.5 mph over his so we will use that as a comparison as well. I hope it picks up 4-6mph in the 1/4 we shall see tho

As of now, I decided to drop and 2010 motor I got for mine in, stock, and just spray it. Probably should still do springs, but who knows. Seems 20 tho and bowl cleanup is the safer way to go with springs and tb's- but still have not personally seen a before and after tb comparison. I'm sure they work on the track with ram air at speed..?

Yeah that was me. After I went thru the traps- let off the gas at 10k rpm without pulling the clutch, thought it was the MR12 but since I saw no gain from it, I doubted it was the cause. After pulling everything apart and understanding what I was looking at, it had pitched a shim and let the valve hit the piston. Maybe from floating after I rolled back the throttle- either way, it did fine for 20 passes before that. Springs could have prevented it.

Boy, I sure must have done something wrong then. According to my tuner anyhow, I picked up 3-4 horsepower over stock with a fully ported head from Adams milled .018" and had the head gasket mod done as well. This was also with 47mm throttle bodies. I guess maybe my actual head porting cost me 16+ horsepower vs the stock ports. In all honestly I will say that we lost a MPH in the 1/8th vs not having the headwork done but I blamed it on weather conditions. I should have left the head alone and just milled it apparently. We eventually got it running pretty decent but it took a lot of seat time to pull the numbers out of the combo.

Won't a thin head gasket give you the same as milling the head?

I have seen on many dyno pulls over the years that dyno numbers can be different when starting at 3-4k as opposed to 5.5k as you see in his graph. Or he could have been running it in 5th or even 6th gear to explain the 5.5k start. Something to think about as far as what actual gains were received.

Pretty much but when you have a head off to do all this work you should surface it.....and in many cases since your there, go ahead and take more off.

$2100.00 buck is not bad for turn key solution. If he got 20 hp that's very good $105.00 per hp. What fuel was he running and what's the A/F ratio. On the first Gen zx14, they need to be ran a lil rich to make the mph at the track.

As to the valve springs, on a SS package heavier springs will rob the power and are not needed, shimming is ok. Call Jim at Comp CNC....
